Itinerary

After morning pickup at the Kusadasi cruise ship port, Izmir Airport, or your Izmir or Kusadasi hotel, travel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle to Ephesus.

Considered a top example of an ancient Roman city, the well-preserved ruins of Ephesus provide a glimpse of an important commercial center during the Roman Empire. The wealthy class of Ephesus lived in the Terrace Houses, which retain evidence of mosaics, frescoes, and early central heating systems. Your guide also shares other important buildings including the Temple of Hadrian, Fountain of Trajan, the great theater, and Celsus library.

After Ephesus, check out the House of the Virgin Mary, a Christian and Muslim shrine located nearby. Legend says that Saint John brought the Virgin Mary to this stone house at the end of her life, making it a Christian pilgrimage site since the fifth century. Continue to the Basilica of St. John, where the early Christian saint may have been buried, and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
