Make your own way to the departure point on Stock Island in Key West.
After some quick boating instruction, head out to Florida’s backcountry waters on a self-captained mini speedboat, following an expert guide across 28 miles (45 kilometers) of scenic mangroves to the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
After docking the boat, at Mud Key Sandbar assemble the snorkeling gear and listen to a quick safety briefing with some basic instruction from the experts, if desired. Then hop into the warm, tropical water for swimming and snorkeling.
The cruise concludes with a return trip to the starting point.
Required – Florida Boaters Safety: Florida Law requires everyone born after Jan 1, 1988 to take a boaters safety test to drive a boat. Each driver must present a passed boaters safety test prior to departure.

We booked a the 1:00 Key West Safari Eco Sandbar Tour Adventure with Snorkeling. There were only four guests, so we were a small group. My husband LOVED driving the 2-person pistol speed boat. We cruised thru the mangroves on our way to the mud flats. A thrilling ride. Didn’t see much wildlife - a few birds and a crab. But being in the mangroves was fun. We didn’t snorkel, but the other guests did. It was nice that they provide the equipment. Kyle was a great guide. He was attentive and informative. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Wear shoes you can hike in muddy key and not sandy shore. The hike on the key was very fun we saw a hammock and a swing built on the key. Driving these comfortable boats was a blast. Fun group activity. Don’t be afraid to go full throttle. Only flaw was the guide recommended a 50-100% tip per person of the overall cost. Exorbitant and rude lout of touch comment.

20 minute trip on a sporty runabout arriving at mangroves where slowly explore followed by a shallow anchor to swim and explore the mangrove on foot.

This eco-boat safari was one of the coolest things we did in Key West. Driving your own little boat through the mangroves makes it way more fun than a typical tour where you just sit and watch. The boats are easy to handle, even if you’ve never driven one before, and the guides explain everything clearly.
The ride itself is beautiful with calm water, tons of wildlife, and amazing views you don’t get from the main tourist areas. We saw birds, fish, and just enjoyed cruising through the backcountry. The snorkeling stop was a great bonus and a nice break to cool off.
Everything felt well-organized and relaxed, not rushed or crowded. It’s perfect if you want something adventurous but still easygoing. I’d totally recommend this to couples, families, or anyone who wants to do something a little different while in Key West. Would 100% do it again!

Kyle was a great tour guide. The boats are easy and fun to drive. Snorkeling is loosely used. Went out to a "mud" island. Not much to really see but was refreshing to be in the water. We had fun.

These little boats are fast and fun! The weather was gorgeous. We got lucky and saw a huge pod of dolphins right next to us. The sandbar was nice except for the mosquitos. The guide Dorian was informative and chill. Bonus the Stock Rock Grill before and after was also a cool vibe.

We had a great tour guide, very informative of how to drive the boat when we hadn’t done before it was also very easy! We saw dolphins on the trip, nurse shark (friendly) and fish. Was a really great day and views!

We've used viator many times. By far, one of our best excursions. Boats were easy to use and fun to ride. Mud beach was amazing. Just sitting in the water And wandering thru the mangroves. Company did a great job! Would do it again!

A lot of fun boating, not so much the snorkeling. Our guide was very knowledgeable and got us going in the two-person speedboats and we had a fun time heading out to the Mud Keys. Unfortunately, the water was very murky around the key and full of floating bits of wood and grass and such, so we didn't bother snorkeling.

Terrible communication from the tour company they waited till 20 minutes before arrival time to cancel the tour due to bad weather conditions. Boating Advisories were posted all morning & radar indicated storms all around the island. We had already left to meet up & didnt get the “email” about cancellation/she had our phone number! (we did not want to lose our $ we paid for the tour we had to wait for them to cancel) I expect a speedy refund! Could not rebook they were completely booked out!

Greetings Amy, we do apologize for bad weather but we sent out communications over an hour from the trips departure. Additionally, you booked with a 3rd party, which puts a 3rd person in charge of communicating with you. We do not have your email to communicate with you as they do not share that info. We called and sent out a text to the number on file, which again, might not be your direct number. Always book direct with companies to alleviate any communication gaps. Additionally, we did have other re-booking options but your group choose not to re-book to another time.

We had a great trip out to the mud key and through the mangroves. We had done this years earlier and decided to try it again! It was a good time! It does give some adrenaline as you are driving the smaller boats! Good time for all ages! Advice: Wear a lot of sunscreen and bring some water to drink!!!

This is a really fun excursion. Cody our tour guide was really nice and knowledgeable. You have your own little two person speed boat. He guides you out to the mangroves where you make stops along the way. Super fun. Highly recommend.

Yes, I would recommend this. We have been in several excursions and this was a bit different. Being able to drive your own little boat was fun. Guide was great and very clear in safety.
