This time, I visited three restaurants.
The first place served two Okinawan specialties: peanut tofu and bitter melon. I had never seen either of them before.
The second was a yakitori (grilled chicken) place. The guide was good friends with the owner and translated some of his old stories for me.
The third restaurant specialized in ramen noodles in a fish-based broth. This was a new experience for me, as I had never had anything like it in the U.S.
The guide was friendly, calm, and a local who spoke English well.
All in all, it was a wonderful experience discovering a new side of Japanese cuisine in such a peaceful atmosphere.
