I booked this walking tour on a last minute whim and am so glad I did. Due to time constraints, I asked to start later which Umesh gladly obliged and amended the tour so I still got to experience the highlights of this well curated tour. This was honestly one of the best tours I’ve done anywhere in the world and the reason for that is Umesh’s charisma and his passion to show you a side of Jaipur you won’t get anywhere else. I’ve had some bad experiences with apathetic tour guides who see you as a walking ATM and Umesh was the complete opposite and such a breath of fresh air. The tour had stops incorporated along to way to include mouth watering savoury snacks and Indian sweets while we saw some of the hidden sights of Jaipur you’d never get a chance to experience anywhere else. The tour was so enriching it’s hard to summarise everything we did. My highlight was having a rooftop view of the Old City whilst observing men make turbans for special occasions. We also visited an old, abandoned haveli which we had entirely to ourselves and went to see bangle makers at work who made me a bangle in front of us at Umesh’s request. Honestly it was like going to see the city with an old friend who knew the coolest, most authentic places to visit. Umesh was extremely thoughtful, caring and I felt very safe walking around at night in the city with him as a solo female traveller. I highly recommend this tour with Umesh, it’s honestly a one of a kind, once in a lifetime kind of experience.
