Nice afternoon activity to see parts of Istanbul other than mosques in old city. Our guide Jon was knowledgeable and flexible. We had an “all-aboard” time on our cruise ship and Jon insured that we got to Galataport on time,

A walking tour is definitely a must! The guide shows you little details and hidden spots that you wouldn’t normally notice unless you really know the area. It made me see the place in a completely different way.
It was such a fun experience, and honestly, I just wish it lasted a bit longer so we could explore more—and maybe even learn about some local dishes too!

Hussain was absolutely outstanding. I learned so many fascinating and unexpected pearls about Galata from him—things I would never have picked up on my own. His storytelling ability is exceptional; he doesn’t just share facts, he truly connects the dots, weaving geography, history, and lived context into a narrative that stays with you long after the tour ends.
He clearly has deep knowledge of the area and is a true history geek in the best possible way. What made the experience even more special was how he took us into hidden corners of Istiklal Street that I would never have discovered on my own. The thoughtfully timed break at a charming local tea spot was a lovely touch and added to the authenticity of the experience.
The tour ended at the magnificent Galata Tower, which felt like the perfect crescendo to a beautifully curated journey. My previous guide experience in the area was honestly not great, and Hussain filled in so many gaps—transforming my understanding of the place entirely.

This was fine. It wasn't an expensive tour, so a good value for money but much less time than I budgeted for. It was fun to take the little tram and learn more about the history of the area.

Unfortunately of 6 tours I took this was my least favorite. While I wouldn’t have minded that it didn’t last the scheduled 4 hours, it should have lasted more than the one hour it did. The guide had some knowledge but his delivery wasn’t satisfactory. I felt like I was window shopping . No depth or perspective.

Unfortunately, this tour was very disappointing. It was quite boring, and the guide didn’t share anything interesting or insightful. Most of the information was extremely basic — things you could easily learn just by reading the signs on the buildings. The commentary was along the lines of “we are now on the street with many shops,” without any deeper context or engaging stories. I didn’t learn anything new, and there was no sense of passion or local knowledge that would make the walk memorable.

Burak was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the history of the area & showed us all the landmarks. He went out of his way to take us over the Galata Bridge to the Spice Market, which was not part of the tour, which was an extra hour he added to the tour.

We walked around and our kind guide showed us several buildings and their architecture he knew his subject well. We thought we would take part in a more historic visit of the Genoa region this was not the case. Nevertheless, we have learned some things. I recommend it especially for those who enjoy having a beer or tea with a local.
