This was such a cute experience. From making your own paper lanterns to getting on a boat to let them into the river. We did the 5 pm class and boat and by the time we got onto the boat the lanterns were already shining bright. Highly recommend.

Brilliant experience making a bamboo lantern with Le who was very patient and helped me make my lantern beautiful. The studio was very close to the old town so it is easy to explore and get some dinner after. Also included a boat ride which was really beautiful with all of the lights. Definitely would recommend!

This was an absolutely wonderful experience. Ms. Lè is a literal legend and was very patient with me. I have never been very good with making things but she made me feel very capable. We had a wonderful conversation. She provided information about not only the lantern making but a bit about Hoi An history too. The boat ride was beautiful and it was an honor to take part in such an amazing tradition. I highly recommend this tour, it was a memory I will cherish. Ps. She also asked how I was getting to my next destination and gave me advice how to do so for less money! Very grateful!

Picked up from the hotel, taken to a house where the lady instructs you how to make a lantern, if there is a group of you it becomes a competition, good laugh, then you get to take your master piece home. Then the lanterns you make from paper go with you on the boat ride where you get to write a meaningful message before sending it out into the river, highly recommend

It’s overpriced for it is. The lantern making feels rushed. Instructor only shows you have to do the fold the card once then moves on.

One of my favourite experiences in all of Vietnam. So unique and all the lights are just stunning. The class was run by the most beautiful Vietnamese woman who was just a delight - chatty healpf and patient with us first time lantern makers.

We chose to do the paper lanterns (release in the river) and silk lantern to take home...Being a 7pm start it seems our teacher was either tired or uninterested in the word 'teaching'. No precise directions or explanations on what we were suppose to do... The boat trip afterwards to release our paper lanterns was a lovely end... enjoyable but hurried and not technique teaching.

We booked the lantern-making and boat tour and had an absolute blast. We didn’t stop laughing — mainly because we were both completely covered in glue and craft materials! The team running the experience were incredibly patient and encouraging, and they fully embraced every mistake and burst of laughter along the way, which made it even more fun. Ending with a private boat trip to launch our lanterns was simply magical and the perfect finishing touch. Highly recommended such a joyful, memorable experience

Did the lantern making...

Did the lantern making class with my partner, and had Ly (can’t remember her name) as the teacher. It was fine for my partner but not the best experience for me. I was not the best student and she was comparing me to my partner and making me feel low as I was sticking the fabric to the lantern wrongly. The first time she changed my lantern and didn’t really explain what I did wrong. Second time, she said that i’m doing the same mistake but still i didn’t know what was wrong until she finally said that i was pulling it too hard. I was slow as well as was literally put down and kept getting compared to my partner who excelled in the lantern making class. Anyways, after I felt condemned I wasn’t in the mood of making it anymore. The boat ride was nice which you can do it on your own. It was just being among the lanterns and Hoi An which makes it beautiful.

This was my favourite experience of our trip. Our teacher was patient and kind helping us make Our lanterns and explained the process well. She then organise our boat for the boat ride. We were going to run late to the memories show so She helped us organise a special boat straight to the show!

Lampion making with good explanations and instructions from Le make it a very nice experience and a fun activity. Followed by the fabrication of a lantern that is provided with a wish and then set out on the water during a boat trip. At that moment the sun is down and dozens of illuminated gondolas sail on the water which makes it an unforgettable event. Highly recommended (and especially with the combination to also make a lantern)
