My family and I had an absolutely wonderful half day tour with our excellent guide, Hami. There was so much crammed into it and every part of the morning we spent was just great.. We were first shown around the local market and had some of the more exotic fruits and vegetables shown to us. Hami was knowledgeable and very clear in her explanations. We were then taken to the companies headquarters by the water where we spent a very enjoyable time making our own lanterns. Ha Mi was incredibly patient and ensured that we all left with something that was actually presentable and worth hanging onto! After this, there was a very thorough cooking lesson in which we learned to make several dishes from scratch including chicken and papaya salad , some excellent vegetable spring rolls, the traditional rice pancakes with meat and prawns, and the local speciality noodles with sliced pork. I could not believe how much was taught to us in that hour, and the results were really pleasing - and tasty! After lunch we took a trip on the traditional coconut shaped boats rowed around by some delightful older ladies who led us through water palm forests . I thoroughly recommended this tour - and a big thank you to Hami for being such a wonderful guide.

Family fun, great little tour, delicious food

Peta_Y, Apr 2026
This was a great tour to do with teens. Definitely a bit touristy but fun, and just the right amount of time/range of activities. As we were staying out of the pick up zone we met our guide at the markets and did a quick 10 minute walk around where she explained about the different fruits/vegetables/noodles for sale. Some purchases were made for our cooking class. We then hopped on the bus back to the base for our lantern making (45mins). Afterwards we hopped in the coconut boats for a 30 minute ride (jumping in the spinning boats is optional). The kids loved this part and the spinning. We then made our way back for our cooking class. Our guide Lily was so funny and friendly and the dishes we made were delicious. The tour finishes with eating your meal and our lanterns were packed for us to take home and were were also given a little gift of chopsticks each to take home. All in all a fun afternoon had by all (ages 13, 15, 16, 46 and 47).

A must activity

Hoang is a perfect Hostess. She speaks English very well and takes the time to explain every detail and answer every question you have. She makes jokes throughout the lessons and keeps you entertained. The transportation is top notch and included unlike other excursions. This was a 5 star experience. 4 activities for a small cost.

Good day out!!! Would highly recommend and very informative, from the lantern 🏮 making to the coconut ride, ending with the cookery class. We had a blast!!!

Excellent value trip

Mandy_C, Mar 2025
This was a great 3 part experience, excellently run with a lot done over the 4 hours. Starting with a trip to a local market where our lovely guide talked through the feed that we were going to be working with, as well as some other unusual fruits, we the moved on to the basket boat (coracle) ride through a water-coconut forest (water-coconuts!! I have never seen these before.) There were a lot of groups doing the basket boats but it was still peaceful travelling through the forest tunnels. In our group of 8 we were then shown how to make the traditional Hoi An lanterns and we each made out own lantern to take home with us. We then started the excellent cooking class - we were each given things to shred/slice/mix and a place at the frying stations and SOMEHOW between us we made a plentiful and scrumptious meal! At the end we were given our lanterns (now packed for travel) and a recipe sheet for the food we'd made. Our guide, I'm sorry I don't remember her name, was amazing throughout. I genuinely don't know how she managed to juggle the cooking to accommodate a vegetarian, a vegan and one person with a gluten intolerance but she did!!

Amazing experience

From collection to drop off we had a wonderful time. Thao was our amazing guide, she met us and took us round a local market where we selected ingredients for our cooking class. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastic all the way through our tour. We got to make a traditional lantern with help from Thao (which we got to keep) We had a trip in a traditional banana boat before a masterclass in cooking. We made with help and instruction 4 dishes from scratch and then got to eat them! It was a truly wonderful morning and throughly recommend. Many thanks, we loved it.

Great day out

Awesome experience

Susan_G, Nov 2024
Excellent !!! Well worth the price! Enjoyed learning about the veggies and cooking. The boat was super fun and making lanterns was (surprisingly) enjoyable. We did a morning trip so it was only 4 in our group. Looks like afternoon was busier.

Kindergarden

Daniela_N, Nov 2024
They let us shift the Tour last minute to the next day. That was really nice and helpfull ! Lantern making is fun, but stressfull. We felt treated like children. Sometimes they would take the lantern from us and continue themselves to be faster or "correct". Same applies for the cooking class. Basically we just watch the guide cooking and were not really allowed to touch anything without permission. Location for the classes was beautiful and calm. Basket boat tour was a joke. Really bad location under a highway bridge, and except for 30 m not at all through the coconut forest.

Fun fun fun

Fantastic experience with a great guide! She was patient with us, explaining all the steps to make the lantern, and funny. The visit to the market was great, showing us different ingredients that we used to prepare very tasty food! And the boat in coconut river also fun 😁 100% recommend!
