Very interesting day out on the morning half day tour to My Son. Our guide Dung was very friendly, informative and took care of our group. The included lunch was simple but nice. My son sanctuary area gets very hot so make sure you prepare. We had fans with us that we were grateful for. We found the half day option enough as we are not super passionate about ruins.

Don't expect "sunset" in My Son. The tour's name just doesn't make sense. We were back in Hoi An before sunset so when we left My Son it was still early afternoon. The guide tried ... but most explanation was given beforehand in the van. So onsite she only remembered of what she told and left us more or less alone. On the way back was absolute no further interaction with the guide and the boat ride seemed a bit random in the end
I expected more information especially onsite.... especially as I followed some other guides while "free-time" and they had a lot more to tell what would have made My Son more interesting
All over it was ok for the money we paid....Not more, not less

I had an amazing time from start to finish! The tour guide Bien is super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They kept the group smaller (<10 people) so it felt that we dont have to wait around too much. They even gave you a banh mi with the boat ride at the end. 10/10 would recommend! Dont forget to tip your bus driver, tour guide and boat driver.

Amazing guide, amazing transport, good itinerary what to say a must visit place for all only with such an amazing guide who would be well aware of the entire history. The guide also saved my money because I took a ticket for my daughter which was to be for 30,000 VND while I paid 150,000 VND the. She made me realised my mistake and I got my money back. Just one thing that driver was rude he dropped me around 200 feet away from my hotel I told him to drop me 200 feet ahead but he told just get down here.
Anyways, a good trip overall thanks to Viator and the guide.

A good trip. We were taken around the site with explanations & then given time to wander & take photos on our own. More to see than expected - expected only a few ruins but its all spread over quite a wide area - something like Bagan in Myanmar! Sunscreen & insect repellant recommended.

While our guide was very nice she didn't offer any information about My Son besides telling us about the brick restoration on the bottom of the ruins. We would have liked to know about the religious meaning as other guides were explaining to their groups. Also would have appreciated some commentary on the ride to and from the site on Vietnam in general.

Was a very good day out and well planned and organised. Tour guide and driver were great.
Very informative.
Spoke very good English and very clear to understand the education provided
Sufficient time given to see the My Son Sanctuary
Also visited a family who make rice and rice products and this was also really good.
Lunch was great.

My Son is in a very pretty locale, and the ruins are interesting, though not overly abundant. Much of the ruins are reconstructed, though there are several pieces that are ancient and original. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, though I found he was trying too hard to be funny to cater to tourists, which is unnecessary. This trip might have been better with a private car and guide, as the time at the ruins was relatively limited. Additionally, the timing was delayed from the get-go — we were picked up 25 minutes later than expected (the apologetic guide kept us informed about the delay), then the ruins felt a bit rushed, and there was a dance performance that we had to walk back to see in the middle of our exploration of the ruins. Furthermore, it delayed our boat trip, which occurred at night instead of during sunset. The info on Viator is a bit confusing — the afternoon trip is served a banh mi on the boat around dinner time. This was nice, but an unnecessary element of the trip. Also, the listing reads as if the boat leaves from My Son and deposits you back in Hoi An. That’s not the case. You get back on the bus after My Son, travel back to the outskirts or Hoi An where you board the boat, and then take a 15-20 minute journey back to Hoi An where you get out at the night market. If you want to be taken back to your hotel, the guide will walk you through the market back to the bus, which will add about another half hour to the entire trip. Overall, I’m glad I saw My Son and took a boat ride. But, if you’re in a group and/or can afford a private tour (even through this company), that might be best.

There are some walking around the ruins.
So good walking shoe is advisable.
Also enjoy a Show performance for 15mins.
Treated to Banh-Mi on the Boat trip at the end . It would have been lovely during summer to view sunset.

Wonderful tour! Good pick up & drop off. Great guide & driver. Very interesting historic site to visit. Sunset photography is weather dependent (as expected). But still well worth the trip. Have some cash available for the entry ticket. After MySon the food & short boat ride back to Hoi A was good too.

We had a wonderful time visiting the My Son Sanctuary with Tran our guide. My Son is an excellent example of 4th century Champa dynasty architecture and lifestyle and certainly worth the cultural side trip when visiting Hoi An for its incredible sartorial shopping adventure.

The entire day was fun and exciting! Michael taught us a small piece of the history and culture of the Champa people on the drive to My Son. Once at the sanctuary, we learned more; brick and building creation, writing, beliefs, and more. Michael kindly, and hilariously offered to take photos so my friend and I weren't left w a bunch of selfies. Even getting stuck for a while in a torrential was fun! We then made our way to the boat and enjoyed fresh bahn mi sandwiches (so good and filling)!
