This class is at a co-op that has local artisans. You will get a taste of pottery, painting, and making mosaics. You get to learn how they do things and what really defines pottery as Moroccan. I LOVED this experience. And even bought a plate with a design that is specific to that workshop.

Unforgettable Family Experience: Pottery and Mosaic Magic in Fes

This was an incredible experience for our family, which includes children aged 6, 18, and 21. Despite booking a session at the last minute, Abdou went above and beyond to accommodate us the same day. The activities, from pottery to mosaic making, were both educational and entertaining, providing an exciting and immersive experience for everyone. The entire family absolutely loved it, and to top it off, they even delivered our completed work directly to our hotel the next day. This activity created unforgettable memories that we will treasure always. We highly recommend this experience, especially with this amazing team, who were not only knowledgeable and skilled but also patient and exceptionally kind. Without a doubt, a 5-star experience!

The art of Fès

This workshop was an absolute blessing. In the beginning, we were shown around the workshop, and the different process steps in pottery were explained. Quite straightaway, we were allowed to try it out ourselves, and both of us made two pieces on the spinning wheel. Afterwards, more process steps were shown. We could then decide if we wanted to draw our own design or choose a prepared one. I was honestly amazed at how many different forms of pottery we could choose from, from small plates to cups with lids and many more. We painted them ourselves and were offered tea and water. It was really nice to see how the art came alive more and more, as well as how the workers were always nice to each other. Truly, their handiwork was indescribable. Once we finished painting, we got to work on our own mosaic piece, either following a template or designing our own. It’s important to note that the pottery piece takes about four days to be ready; it will be delivered to your riad or hotel while the mosaic piece was ready to take with you within one hour. We then looked around the showroom, which was filled with truly amazing pieces, and decided to buy two tajines as a memory for our home. Fés is the main city for this form of pottery, so partaking in this was an even more unique experience. I truly recommend this to anyone who wants to feel closer to this culture, and I can’t thank Abdou enough for this unforgettable day!

Everything was great! Ahmed welcomed us and introduced us to the cooperative, with the different positions (pottery, tailoring, assembly,...). Then we went to do the zellige workshop as well as painting. We were able to choose our support and our colors. Everything was very well explained and we enjoyed this moment. Then we went to try the potter trick with Youssef, it was very interesting. We left with our mosaics, and our little pottery will be brought directly to our riad. Finally, go through the beautiful shop. The taxi was on time to bring us in and take us back from the blue door. We had a great time with family, we highly recommend this experience if you visit fes!

Belle expérience à la manufacture de poterie. Au delà de nos attentes, nous avons été pris en charge et formés à la peinture sur céramique, à la mosaïque et la poterie. Super moment en famille et en compagnie d’artistes compétents et bienveillants avec les novices que nous sommes. La manufacture Art d’Argile est venue nous chercher dans le quartier où nous logions et nous avons été ré accompagnés. Nous avons eu le plaisir de repartir avec « nos œuvres d’art ». Que de beaux souvenirs. Activité que nous conseillons donc fortement si vous faites escale à Fès. Merci encore à Mohamed, Abdou et autres artistes…

L’atelier a commencé par une visite guidé de la poterie au zellige, en passant par la peinture. Nous avons choisis une pièce ensuite que nous devions peindre à notre tour. Ensuite nous avons pu réaliser une mosaïque et l’emporter avec nous. Et enfin nous avons pu faire de la poterie. L’équipe était très accueillante et à l’écoute ! Dommage pour la poterie que nous avions peint nous n’avons pas eu le temps de la laisser aller au four car il faut compter 3 jours après, mais nous rentrions. Nous les avons quand même prit mais le résultat n’est pas le même que lorsque les étapes sont réalisées. Je recommande !
