A great trip

Deborah_D, Apr 2025
We signed up for this journey as a way to get from Fes to Marrakech and sleep in the desert one night. We had a fantastic time. All went well: Camel ride was fun, the tent was comfortable and warm (they are permanent tents), and we saw beautiful sights throughout the mountains. The driver, Hisham, gave us a great trip, including hunting down locals who could find the Barbary macaques in the cedar forest for us to see. He also provided insights into various Moroccan cultures. Second night was in a nice hotel built into a mountainside. Highly recommend.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the journey from Fes to Marrakech and had a memorable night in the desert. It's great to know the camel ride, desert camp, and stunning mountain views all met your expectations. We're especially happy to hear that Hisham took good care of you and made the trip even more special with his local knowledge and effort to help you! We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Morocco someday

BUYERS BEWARE

Jane_T, Nov 2022
The 3 days 2 nights trip from Fez to Marrakech via Sahara Desert (Merzouga) was supposed to be the highlight of my Morocco trip. Based on the reviews on Viator, I booked the excursion for my friend and I for a small group tour with Sahara Desert Crew even though its price was much higher than other similar excursions. The overview on the Viator was very basic and does not have much information. One would have thought that the vendor, Sahara Desert Crew, would email or provide some basic itinerary about our trip or even re-confirm the meeting place. NOOP! NOTHING. We heard nothing until we contacted Sahara Desert Crew and asked if we can get picked up from a closer location because we had safety concerns @ Fez the day before. Although it is not included on our tour, the driver did picked us up and we are grateful. The tour minivan was nice enough and the numbers of travelers did not exceed 8 travelers as promised. Most of the time, none of us knew where we are going or even what the agenda of the days are as the driver was not very talkative. He is very kind, nice, and friendly. Lots of restroom breaks in between long drives. The driver would take us to lunch places and we will all eat at the same place. Most of the time, the restaurants would be overpriced for tourists and with minimal food options. Due to the long drive, all of us (7 travelers) bonded and we all got to talk about the tours. That was when my friend and I found out that the tour van that we are on its actually for a different tour ~ 3 day Morocco Kasbahs & Desert Tour to Marrakech from Fez and provided by Trip Morocco. For this tour, total max travelers are 17, desert camp is standard (meaning share bathroom/toilet) and 2nd night hotel is listed for USD$254.49. Trip Morocco emailed the 5 travelers with more information on places and what's included/excluded (unlike Sahara Desert Crew). On our tour all of us got the same treatment, same van, same desert camp/tent, same 2nd night hotel, all included/excluded items listed are the same and all places we visited are the same. However, my friend and I paid USD$347.73 and that is USD$93.24 difference per person or almost 50% more than what my fellow travelers paid. Shame on Sahara Desert Crew for misleading us and did not even have the audacity to mention that we will be grouped with another tour. Sahara Desert Crew did not even asked how was our trip until almost towards the end. I have booked 12 viator tours this year and 100+ over the last few years and this has never happened to me. I feel the need to speak up so other travelers know what they are getting with Sahara Desert Crew.

We are sorry to hear just part of your trip experience and here to clarify what happened. Your trip was planned to be with another family of 4 persons, but in the last minute the family canceled the trip because someone was sick and it ended only you 2 persons on the tour, so instead of canceling your reservations ( that was the right thing to do in this case), we found a similar trip for you with another company doing the same trip and the same itinerary and we paid them exactly the amount we received later from Viator which is 501€ and not what you mentioned,( our company didn't make any benefit from your reservation only this review) because Viator commission is 26%. The other 5 persons did book together and they got a discount of being 5 persons not just 2 as your group. we contacted you and you said that everything is good with no information as you got the refund when you complained with viator but you didn't mention it on your review which is not fair i think.

Great trip to Dessert

Monica_G, Sep 2022
The trip was absolutely amazing. We loved everything and our tour guide Ibrahim was so good. He knew everything and was always ready to help. Truly, an amazing experience. My only issue was with the length of camel ride because it was too long for me and my friend. The camp was very far which made it a two hours long ride. The beginning was very fun however we were exhausted by the end. other than that, everything was perfect. All the accommodations and restaurants were amazing. Monica Galinari - NY

Thanks Monica for sharing about your experience and happy to see that you are satisfied and hope you did let us know during your camel ride because there was the option to finish your way to the camp by 4wd instead of camels. Hope will see you again in Morocco for another adventure

Highly recommend this tour, we would go again tomorrow!

We found this tour when trying to work out how to get from Fez to Marrakesh on our trip without retracing our steps, and it included stops at some of our ‘must see’ sights. We hoped it would be good, but our expectations were far exceeded! Ibrahim our driver was super, looking after us all the way, taking us to all sorts of stops and sights and making the whole experience perfect. The accommodation in the desert and the hotel it top notch, with great evening meals and Ibrahim found us super spots in local restaurants to buy lunch. Each part of it was a delight from the camel ride, to watching the sunrise over the Sahara. There are the highlights on the itinerary but so many little stops with super photo opportunities along the way. Thank you Safari Desert Crew and particularly Ibrahim

Great trip but...

Therlinsie_F, Aug 2021
This was a wonderful experience. Our driver, Yusuf, was very informative and tailored the trip to our needs. The desert camel driver was hilarious even though he spoke very little english and the staff at the camp made us feel very comfortable. They played music for us the night we stayed there and it was so much fun. The only reason I could not give 5 stars is because of how long the 2nd and 3rd day of the trip is. You stay at another hotel (which was also nice and comfortable) but I wish we stayed at the dessert for the 2 nights and then drove to Marrakesh. There were many, many stops to look at, various monuments, tourist sights and overlooks and by the 3rd day we were exhausted. The food in the desert also made us all sick, likely due to the fresh salad which in hindsight we should not have eaten as it is the desert and I'm not quite sure how potable the water is there. Despite this, overall the trip was great.

The Best of Morocco

MarkTrenton_L, Jan 2020
I travel a lot for work and pleasure. I rarely take tours and employ guides. In this case, I couldn’t be happier that I did. We traveled to all the major cities in Morocco and spent three days with Sahara Desert Tours going from Fez to Marrakech via a night in the Sahara Desert and one in the Atlas Mountains. This journey was by far the best experience we had while in Morocco. Every aspect of this journey was excellent from pick up and drop off to desert accommodations, food, coffee and companionship with the staff. The highlight of all the highlights was our guide Ibrahim. I’m fairly sure he is why this experience was so excellent. He is a true ambassador for Morocco and the Berber people as well as a steady driver and friendly companion. He has a zest for life, love of country, and concern for his clients that makes your time w him truly unique and special. If you come to Morocco, I highly recommend leaving the cities and seeing the unique and lovely countryside. Morocco countryside is stunning, beautiful and unique. It is well worth the time and effort. Should you take my advice, then I can not recommend Sahara Desert Tours more highly. I’m deeply grateful for the experience they offered us and their warm, gracious hospitality.

Friendly driver with good driving and good accommodations

Karen_L, Oct 2019
Our tour was a total of 6, all from America. The driver Mustafa was super friendly and courteous with great driving. He drove tirelessly with extreme caution and made the journey from Fes to Merzouga/Sahara Desert through the middle atlas to Tinghir and to Marrakech through the high atlas comfortable and pleasant. The driver was patient and attentive and gave great advice upon arriving in Marrakech. Our experience at the desert with the camel ride was a memorable one! I would recommend this tour company and the driver.
