We had a wonderful time hiking with John along the beautiful coastal area of Howth. His knowledge and enthusiasm were infectious. We would recommend this to anyone who is visiting Dublin and wants to leave the city for a short break.

Lovely experience with John on our first day in Dublin. First off as we arrived for the tour my son from Michigan landed after a serious delay. John quickly asked when we first met at the Howth meeting point if it would be okay to pick him up and include him. The tour was exceptional, John was enthusiastic and an entertaining guide. This review was delayed due to the death of my mom. But as I think back on his tour my family and I fondly remember his love of Ireland and our time with him.

John The Man’s Howth Cliff Walk tour was amazing! Our group throughly enjoyed his narrative of the surroundings and he lent us along the way his personal and favorite poetry recitings. I had booked this tour based on the reviews and I realized straight on why folks raved about it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making our last day in Ireland so memorable.

John (The Man) is amazing! This was absolutely one of the highlights of our England and Ireland trip! John has so much knowledge of Ireland and its history and he is also a writer himself and recited some of his own amazing poetry. Howth is absolutely breathtaking and full of history. The cliff walk itself is moderately challenging but my teenage kids didn't complain about it so it couldn't have been too hard. The views are worth every step and John makes sure that everyone is doing ok and enjoying themselves at all times. John told us about a little pub to eat at afterwards and even helped us get our train tickets back to Dublin. A must do and see!

John the Man infused the lovely seaside town of Howth with the magical lilt of the Irish in his telling of the history of the town. His poetry added personality and emotion to the sweeping landscape. It was a memorable experience.

We ordered a tour with four friends for a total of 140 euros. We thought it to be a bit steep, but it was the only guide left when ordering the day before. During the trip John tried to get all people we ran into to join the group in the hope of getting a tip and most importantly to get people to join his pub crawl.
But okay c'est la vie. Then the tour... John the guide spouted a bunch of nonsense with a small fact in it. He admitted himself most of the stories were made up. Me and my friends preferred historical information about Howth, but that was severely lacking.
In general we were not amused

I had hurt my knee and John tailored our walk so that I could manage it comfortably. We appreciated John’s knowledge of the history of the area and our off the beaten path hike to the lighthouse view and through the woods. Yes, Ireland has the best display of rhododendrons ever!! We loved our hike and John and had a great meal at the Bloody Stream after then John walked us to the train to Dublin-he was a great guide!

JOHN, our guide, is MAGIC! He exceeded our expectations and gave us a most memorable experience.

Had a lovely walk with John! Surprisingly one of my favorite activities on our Ireland trip. John has vast knowledge of Howth, his thorough overview of the history of the peninsula was so interesting. And throw in some storytelling and poetry, and it made the whole walk go by quick. (Sorry and thank you again to John for waking up a bit early for us!!)
