Itinerary

Depart your central Dubai hotel by air-conditioned minivan and drive toward your venue for your dinner-and-show experience, the Al Sahra Desert Resort.

On the fringes of Dubai, this eco-tourism resort takes the form of a recreated Arabian fortress and amphitheater nestled in a desert oasis setting of palm-sprinkled dunes. At the heart of the resort is a delightful outdoor camp, complete with a Bedouin-style tent and cushions and tables set outdoors, all illuminated by lanterns and flame-lit torches.

On arrival, enjoy a camel ride around the facilities and an Arabic coffee.

Then, head to the fort and savor the magical atmosphere as you stroll to the impressive dining area. Here, enjoy a welcome drink and take your seat for the scrumptious dinner buffet and Emirati entertainment.

Help yourself to the generous buffet dinner. Expect to enjoy dishes of tasty mezze, grilled fish, sizzling kebabs and more, all washed down with included sodas and mineral water. Additional drinks are available at your own expense. See the Itinerary for a sample menu.

As you eat and drink, enjoy a spellbinding dinner show. Watch a breathtaking fire dance display and traditional Emirati hair dance — with women swishing their long hair — set against a soundtrack of rhythmic live music and drumming. Very much recommended. Although maybe a little touristy it was a great evening entertaining and food very enjoyable. Pick up for tour was on time. Only complaint is that driver drove way too fast and furious on our return to the hotel. He didn't have our safety in mind.

The dinner and entertainment were ok but we were so angry we were not able to enjoy it much. The voucher said pickup at our hotel would be between 3:30 and 4. We called and they said they would pick us up between 5 and 5:30 The guy finally got there at almost 6:30 and we were crammed in a car with 2 other people that did not smell very good for an hour drive. By the time we arrived it was dark we could not see much and we had no time for the other activities plus not being in a good mood. It was a lot of money for a quick buffet dinner and then turn around for another hour drive with the same smelly people!

It was an entertaining trip. Overall...

The desert dining experience was a lot of fun. Very touristy, but fun. It started with pick-up at our hotel with a private driver just for us. We arrived about an hour before the buffet was served so we had time to ride the camel, hold the falcon, and get a henna tattoo before dinner. There were horses to ride also. Dinner was excellent with a huge assortment and amount of food. Sitting outside in the evening air as the sun set was pleasant and relaxing. The entertainment included a musical duo playing while we were eating, and afterwards a fire dancer, a tannura dancer, two belly dancers, and two khaliji dancers performed.
