This tour surpassed our expectations. We saw so many sights, we got to meet the Lubavitcher rabbi (a huge perk), and got to spend as much time as we wanted to in all the museums. The tour guide, Ralph, was so nice, and really wanted us to get what we wanted from the experience. I can't say enough good things about him.

A really excellent cultural experience

This was a blast from start to finish! Our guide was surprisingly knowledgeable about the Jewish history, community and culture in the area and he had such a wonderfully friendly way of engaging us. He was great about adjusting the timings and locations as is appropriate for a private tour - and we made side stops for shopping and gelato. Just a great day.

Our Curaçao Jewish Heritage Tour

Ralph Luidens met us at the requested time and place on time. He was well informed and his knowledge about the Jewish History of Curacao was much on display. We experienced the pride of Curaçao’s history through Ralph’s dialogue, as well as the contributions that these early citizens brought to this island/nation. Guiding us through the Mongui Maduro Museum Ralph gave us a detailed view of many generations of this family. Stopping to view the Beit Hayim Cemetery (one of two) also was interesting on how these early settlers completed their lives here. Visiting the Curacao Liqueur Distillery was a fun experience; especially the tasting opportunities! Ralph gave us a brief auto-tour of today’s current Jewish neighborhood which was also a treat. We really appreciated Ralph’s patience, as the Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue was not allowing visitors at the expected given time noted by that congregation. We all enjoyed a visit to a nice cafe for cold sodas while we waited. We would highly recommend Ralph Luidens for a complete, knowledgeable tour of “Jewish Curacao

Totally Immersive, Curacao Jewish Heritage Tour

Ralph was a wonderful, knowledgeable, warm and friendly tour guide. He had plenty of patience and answered our many questions during the 4+ hours we spent with him. We never felt rushed by him at any time. His car was clean and very comfortable and his trunk was large enough to hold my wheelchair. Ralph was even kind enough to push me in my chair rather than leaving everything up to my spouse. My wife and I were both very impressed by that. Ralph started the tour by showing us the first Jewish Cemetery on the island and over 4 hours later, after seeing all the important growth regarding the Jewish experience, our final stop was the Synagogue, which is still an active Synagogue even now. When we finished the tour, he drove us back to our cruise ship and we felt like we were saying goodbye to a good friend. We highly recommend this tour and more than highly recommend asking for Ralph.

We had an excellent Jewish Heritage tour of Curacao. The tour guide was thorough in spite of the fact that he is not Jewish. We did not realize how integral Jews were to the development of Curacao and our guide integrated both the history of the island and the history of its Jewish population. We had a great 1/2 day tour.
