Remark : Our base camp is almost 60 km and take about 1.5 hrs. drive Can be faster or slower depends on the traffic on that date as well Please remember a change of clothes as you will get wet! Recommended clothing is a swimming suit with quick drying shorts and shoes. Also bring sunscreen, bug spray, a refillable water bottle and small day pack.
What To Expect
Prepare for morning pickup at your Chiang Mai hotel, and drive around 1.5 hours to reach the rafting base camp. When you arrive, get a safety orientation and gear up with state-of-the-art helmets and life vests. The camp provides all the amenities you need to stay comfortable, including lockers, changing rooms with showers, and a minimart to pick up any last-minute snacks or supplies before launching onto the water.
The river course features three different sections, beginning with a relatively calm stretch that winds through a lush, shady jungle and contains one class III rapid to warm up your paddling skills. Next, prepare to get wet on an adrenaline-pumping section peppered with class III and IV rapids that count among some of Thailand’s best whitewater. Finally, relax and soak up the scenery during a period of calm before finishing up the 6-mile (10-km) course with a thrilling patch of near-continuous rapids.
Rafters under the age of 15 or those who are less experienced can opt to skip the more challenging sections of the course by hopping out of the river and riding in a van along a road for about 1.2 miles (2 km), then rejoining the group after the most difficult stretch. Please note that river conditions can change depending on water levels. During high water times, total time on the river will be about 2 hours, while lower levels generally result in a 2.5-hour trip.
After your victorious trip down the river, shower and change into dry clothes if you like and enjoy an included lunch of fried chicken with rice, fruit, salad, coffee, and tea. Vegetarian options are also available if requested in advance. Relax on the return ride to Chiang Mai, where the adventure concludes with hotel drop-off in the afternoon.

My friends and I didn't regret choosing this rafting adventure. The only thing we regret is that we didn't have time for ATV as we rushing back. The 8Adventures workers (including the rafting captain) are very kind and friendly. Highly recommend 8Adventures because of the people there and the activities that they have. Worth it!!

We booked a Class 4 rafting tour that was supposed to cover 10 km, but the day before our trip, we were informed that the river was too high. Instead, they suggested an 8 km tour. The rafting experience was at a Class 2-3 level, which was decent, but those expecting a Class 4 or higher experience might be disappointed. However, the pickup at our hotel, the facilities, and the overall service were outstanding! If you haven't tried white water rafting yet, this is the activity for you in Chiang Mai!

First off, the most excellent communication from this company before the tour even began! Everything was crystal clear as far as expectations and the game plan. Also, everything was very timely. The safety and care that the crew take is outstanding, and there are always rescue people within sight. Lots of easy to understand safety briefings and solid safety equipment. Best rafting ever with an added bonus of seeing elephants along the river! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

This white water rafting trip is a must go-to. The team is extremely well trained and kept us safe at every stage of the 10 km trip down river. The river and scenery in Northern Thailand are also amazing and very worth seeing. After the trip down river, the facility has fully equipped with showers, and everyone is given towels to clean up. The site also has lockers, so you don't have to risk any items on the river. They also take pictures for you while you're rafting which you can purchase for a reasonable price after the tour.
What really stood out to me about this experience was the wonderful personalities of every team member. From the drivers to the raft captains, everyone was extremely kind and fun to talk to. I can't recommend this tour enough!

Great trip. Lunch was excellent. Personal car pickup from hostel in the old city. Safety was a priority. Very low water levels when we went, but still very navigable. Guides were hilarious and knowledgeable. Would recommend.

I can't recommend doing this enough! The whole experience was awesome and so well organized. The pickup was on time and they used the drive time to give a safety briefing. By the time we got to the location, our instructors were ready for us! While it was only myself and my fiance who had signed up for the day, all the instructors made it super fun despite the lack of people. It was clear that they were experienced individuals who knew exactly what they were doing. The lunch was fantastic (very yummy) and the facility was so well organized (plastic bags for wet clothes, pictures for purchasing, lockers, etc.) We absolutely loved this experience and would 100% do it again!

Amazing tour! The guides were great, you could see safety was of great concern to them. The place is beautiful, the facilities are good. The guides were very friendly and made the experience fun. Lunch was very tasted as well.

Very organized! It was rather chilly but they supplied us with wetsuits and waterproof jackets, and we were good to go! Watched elephants and beautiful jungle scenes as we rafted down the river! A great experience for first timers! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure!
