Itinerary

Meet a driver at at your Chiang Mai city hotel for 8:30am departure, then travel to the first stop of the day, Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara, a fascinating historic temple complex with an onsite Buddhist university.

See the central chedi, built in the Lanna style, with fierce naga serpents guarding the entrance way, and watch for young Buddhist monks on their way to class. As you explore, and throughout the day, take advantage of your time with a private guide to ask questions and discuss the things that interest you most, from Buddhist architecture to local culture.

Continue to Wat Phra Singh, a “Royal Temple of the First Grade” which dates back to the 14th century, then stop at Wat Suan Dok, where pristine, white chedis house the ashes of the former royal family of Chiang Mai.

Step back to the early days of Chiang Mai history at Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple in the city, and find the long rows of elephants that support the central chedi.

The last temple of the day is Wat Jed Yod, whose distinctive seven-spired chedi was inspired by an ancient site in north India. Following your time at Wat Jed Yod, this tour concludes with 12:30pm drop-off at your original departure point.
