Our guide Choo was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time.
The hike in the national park was wonderful although we were there on a cloudy day.

We had such an excellent day with some really amazing views! The hike is not for the faint hearted, quite steep and tough in parts but you can take it at your own pace. The views at the top are incredible so its worth it. We got a really nice lunch included and enjoyed some time spent at the market and local village. We had great tour leader who was super knowledgeable and made the day a lot of fun - a super efficient service and would highly recommend!

Yes, it was a a good activity to do that was out of the norm. The pagodas were really nice with beautiful landscaping, hike was beautiful and well paved walkway excellent views from the hilltop. Worth doing.

Hello, it seems that you enjoyed the experience. May I kindly ask what led you to give a 3/5 rating? As this score usually reflects that the tour was not fully satisfactory, we would truly appreciate your feedback so we can improve our service in the future.
Sarah_v, Feb 2026
It’s good value for money in that you see lots in one long day. However many of the stops aren’t particularly interesting and we were frequently rushed from the few things of interest. Additionally the guide, Nicki, screamed at some students during the hike which made us uncomfortable.
The pick up from the hotel came 30 mins after the end of the pick up window given - we could’ve slept an hour longer.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that the tour doesn't made your expectation. We will forward your comment about the tour guide to the related person to investigate and make improvement.

Nice to go to the waterfall and Doi Inthanon as well as the Karen village coffee tasting. It was a great tour, just a long time in the car, and felt a bit go, go, go at times. Billy was a great guide though and made sure everyone enjoyed!

The tour was really great. We were outside of our hotel 7:00 sharp and were picked up by 07:10. Due to traffic and weather it can take even until 08:00 so no need to panic if it's a bit late. Our tour guide was Choo (sorry, I don't know if that's how it's spelled but that's how I heard it). He was extremely friendly and very pleasant. He explained a lot of things during the trip - about the Thai cultures, flag, the mountain, religion, royalty and more. He spoke English very well too (it just takes getting a bit used to Thai accent). I was surprised how many things he explained, some negative reviews mention lack of info or bad English but all of that was great here. Before beginning the actual tour we stopped at a shop to grab some snacks and drinks. Lunch is not until 15:00 as clearly indicated so make sure to get something! First we visited the waterfall, then we went to a market. After that, we went to visit the peak and then we drove for the actual hike. You don't get to stop much, it's really a trek. It's 3 km, we had maybe 2-3 few minute pauses before continuing. It took about 2 hours (started 12:20 and finished 14:20). I like hiking and while have preferred to take it slower to observe local fauna, but you're always on the move without much time for it. You'll have time to take plenty of photos you see other people take though! Be warned that hike is A LOT of stairs (up and down constantly), not your usual forest path so make sure you're capable of handling that. Then we went for the pagodas where we 40 min in total, so 20 for each. It really felt not enough as we just rushed to each, take couple of photos and run to the other to do the same. I wanted to read some text inside the pagodas to learn more, but there wasn't enough time. You're always on a timer. So I just took photos of texts for later. This was followed by going for lunch which was amazing! It was really tasty and felt like proper home cooking. Finally, we went to a village where they make coffee and got to try some of it, in addition to few varieties of tea. Here you can buy them, as well as various other souvenirs. Then we left for everyone's hotel drop-offs. I have to say I absolutely loved the tour and would go again if I had the same guide - he was simply amazing. And let's not forget the driver who did an awesome job getting us everywhere on time - it was pouring during the morning. Only negative thing I can say is that it felt a bit rushed at times. It's understandable because even with the few things we did, it took all day. However, I should still suggest to make some kind of improvement to extend visit to pagodas and take it easier with the trek - but even in its current way it's definitely a must-do for, highly recommended.

Billy, our tour guide, did a great job re-arranging our hike to the morning so that the views would be better before the rain clouds came in. He was also super friendly, an kept us duly informed about each location.

Great price for the journey. Very basic though. Not given any info or tour guide as such. Just a taxi service really and a guide for the hike. Still enjoyed it and was possibly the cheapest Don Inthanon trip we could find.

Experienced rain during the trek, but our tour guide Billy made it very fun regardless! The temples are a must see, the trail vista is beautiful, the markets have great snacks, and the coffee at the local village was extraordinary.

We visited really nice and beautiful places, no doubts about it.
Let mention, however, the really poor quality of the service, better saying the guide (BILLY).
The van was perfectly on time, we drove for 1:30 h reaching the pick and we had couple of hours trekking, which was good, but nothing special. You can see a forest like that everywhere.
We were supposed to have a guide explaining us everything about plants and animals in the forest, but absolutely nothing. He also completely avoided one of our questions.
Moreover we had two old couples with walking issues and he told my parter and I he was waiting “the dead people” and “they are too fat”.
Absolutely not professional.
English level of the guide (named BILLY!) was minus C2, completely incomprehensible.
Moreover he’s pushed us all day long, like he was in a hurry, not even leaving us 1 min to take a couple of photos.
One of the stop was the local market of the hill tribes and we spent there 2 min maximum just because he wanted to go to eat.
He kept pushing us literally all day long, he was really annoying.
I gave 2 stars just because the places we visited were ok, but still, definitely the cost is too much for the actual activity.
Value for money: -26272818226!
That was an actual pity!

Thank you for your review, and we sincerely apologize for the tour guide’s behavior. Could you please provide more details about your booking? We have two tour guides with the same name (Billy), and this information will help us identify and investigate the issue.

This was a great way to see Doi Inthanon, hike in nature, and see the King and Queen Pagodas. I read a lot of reviews for different day trips (many of them follow the same route), and I'm glad I chose this one because it had an actual hike, rather than just driving you from place to place. Still, you will see tons of the same tourist vans at every stop.
A few logistical things to know:
1) Lunch is not until 2:30 or 3 p.m., so plan accordingly! You can also purchase snacks at each of the stops.
2) The trek is a TREK! And our guide moved at a very fast pace. Make sure to bring plenty of water (they'll give you 1 bottle) and be prepared for an intense hike, especially the first 1 km which is all uphill.
3) I suggest wearing hiking boots for the first part of the day and then bringing sandals to change into after the hike. You can leave stuff in the van in between stops. And yes, it's cooler at the summit, but you don't need a ton of layers - just a long sleeved shirt or light jacket will do.
A few things that would have made the trip even better:
1) Add 5-10 mins at the summit. We didn't even have time to take a photo!
2) I could have done without the stop at the market and coffee village. You don't spend long at either stop and they seem to be geared entirely toward tourists.
In sum: I recommend this tour, and if they offered the same tour but ended the day at lunch and got you back to Chiang Mai earlier, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Booked this as a solo traveler since it is a must-do from Chiang Mai. Mediocre experience. Lots of time wasted before getting to the national park (~1h picking up from hotels, ~40 min stop at gas station for food) meaning the actual 2h hike takes place during the hottest part of the day (1-3p). The tour guide provides no value (no explanation of history, doesn’t walk around the pagodas or waterfall with you).
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Thank you for your feedback. Could you please provide us with your booking reference? This will help us identify your tour guide so we can address your concerns and work on improvements. Regarding the travel time, we apologize for any inconvenience. As Doi Inthanon is quite far from the city, it does require several hours of travel, but most customers feel the experience is well worth it. Additionally, the tour duration is clearly stated on the product page.

My pickup happened without any issues at 7:45 am as I was the last one and we had 12 people onboard, all fun and nice people. Transport was good, an AC minivan and 2 hours journey was smooth. Oliver was our guide, he made sure to inform us about stops, restrooms/food breaks in advance which I really appreciate. For the main trek, there was another guide who couldn't communicate in English due to which we couldn't get much info on the trail, flora-fauna. He tried his best though. The trek was moderate and we were given breaks when exhausted. Lunch was provided with option of Veg/Non Veg. It was basic, kind of bland but ok to silent your stomach. There was a local market too (not very expensive). On our way back we visited a village but it was organized more around coffee and souvenir shopping. We reached back to hotel around 6 pm. Overall it was well-organized with some scope of improvement. I would recommend.

Thank you for your review. We are glad to know that you liked the experience. Your kind words will be passed on to the tour guide. The trekking tour guide is not our staff. According to the national park rule we have to use native people as a tour guide and cannot pick the person we prefer. We apologize for the inconvenience in the trekking part.

What a hike but we had a great guide who made sure I didn’t get left behind. Foggy day so you couldn’t see most of the view from the top but it was still a good trip. Seeing the pagodas and the amazing gardens and was a treat.

We were with Wendy's tours. Our guide and driver were great. Everything was timed out perfectly. Stopped at a very nice waterfall on the way. Went to the "highest point in Thailand" which is a short trail, separate from the 2 hour hike. Research what the hike is before doing it. It was nice and I am glad I did it. The trail has been built to survive rainy season water rolloff so 50% of it is stairs and platforms. Some might find that easier. The mortal enemy of my not-great knees is stairs, so this was a little rough for me. You hit the overlook in 30 minutes and can turn back there if needed. There were more great views if you continue on though. It took us 1.75 hours to finish and we had a few rest breaks. From there we went to the king and queen pogodas, a very beautiful location. Lunch was very good, and plenty of it. A last quick stop at the Karon coffee location and back home. Great day.

Really great trip, amazing and spectacular scenery but spoilt by the lunch, when we arrived to eat the food was already out on the table and was cold, there were flies around it. By the end of the day my wife was unwell with stomach cramps and the Thai version of Delhi belly!!!!
On a positive note, the actual activities on the day were really good. After lunch we hiked through the national park and saw a range of wildlife including snakes and monkeys. We saw some beautiful waterfalls and went to the highest place in Thailand.
Dominique_A, Nov 2024
I cannot recommend this tour enough. It will bring you to the most beautiful viewpoints around Chiang Mai, with all entrance fees included.
The guide was friendly and spoke very good English.
The actual hike is not difficult, but make sure you bring plenty of water!

Overall this was a good experience! It covers all the main sights in the national park, you drive to the waterfall, then to the top of mountain, then down to do the hike and end in the coffee shop. The hike is about 3km and lasts around 2 hours, it is very pretty. The coffee shop was an unexpected highlight! We couldn’t see anything at the top because it was cloudy, this is quite common so be aware that it might not look like the pictures, plus it was chilly so take a layer / rain coat! The cloudy traveller pics are probably the most accurate, and we were a bit disappointed. You spend a lot of the day driving in the van, so be aware it isn’t a full hiking day out. The van was quite cramped and uncomfortable, and our seat kept moving back and forth. It is about a 2 hour drive to get there. Lunch was good and there’s lots of options/ large portions.
