Eye opening tour!

This tour was so eye opening! The Langa township is like one big family and most people seem happy even though living in such poverty. Our tour guides Godfrey and Mshula were amazing and shared much of their own story of living in the township. We were also able to go to part of a church service because it was a Sunday morning. We highly recommend doing this tour to learn about how resilient the people of the township are, as well as the need for them to be provided assistance to live in better conditions.

Nelson was great guide and gave us a fascinating insight to real life in the Langa Township. We learnt so much about the history of District 6 and the challenges faced by the people that live in the Langa Township today. What an amazing experience. Our guide Vuyo gave us a taste of real South Africa. From the outstanding District Six Museum to showing us District Six, before moving to Langa. His knowledge and expertise was incredible and the locals couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating to our visit. This is a must for anyone visiting Cape Town. Thank you Vuyo

Our afternoon with Nelson was amazing. He was friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable. Nelson has lived in the Langs township for most of his life. We began our tour at the District 6 Museum. Nelson gave us a great briefing on the history of Cape Town and the destruction of district 6 and the development of the townships. This was a nice way to begin and gave us a good frame of reference for the places we were about to visit. Once in the township, Nelson showed us all the different types of housing and explained how the township system works and how it has developed over time. The high light of the day was visiting the children. They sang and danced with us. We brought a few bags of candy and it was such a joy to give them a chocolate treat!! Nelson did a fantastic job exposing us to the realities of living in a township. He showed us the hard way of life, but also shared the joy and love that exists there. This experience left a mark on my heart that will stay forever. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Cape Town. My husband and I were traveling with our 20 year old daughter.
