The incremental charge for this "private tour" was a round trip drive in car of about 5km. This cost us about $160 more than just paying entrance fees. There was no tour - he took us in to wait in the line and then left us to ferry on our own. The tour part was done by the former prisoners and government employees who were free (plus tips). I honestly don't know what we paid for!

Tour Operator is scalping tickets. SCAM.

This is a scam. This company is scalping tickets at 3X value. The tour offered is the general tour given by South African tourism. DO NOT BUY THESE TICKETS. They charge a premium, state they will meet you and crickets....you're on your own. Buy the tickets directly from the Robben Island website. Also, bring a jacket and wear long pants. It's very cold. The tour is good, but there is absolutely no reason to hire a third-party company to help you.

The experience was incredibly disorganized from hotel pickup. Guide did not stay with group for duration of excursion and excursion took longer than advertised. Boats leave at 9h00 to Robben island and depart 13h00. The time on Robben Island was as advertised and interesting to hear from the view point of a former prisoner. Overall would not recommend booking with this company though.
