Allan P, Oct 2016
This is a perfect tour to see the fantastic coastline of the Cape Peninsula and a chance to taste some great local wine. A bright sunny day is ideal and we were lucky to have one for our trip - which was just the 2 of us with our excellent driver and guide, Mogamat. Several stops for great scenic views and photographs of the Twelve Apostles and Hout Bay en route to the first stop at Simons Town. Home of the South African navy, this is also where you can optionally visit Boulders Beach to see the penguin colony, which we enjoyed. After the stop and hike up to the lighthouse at Cape Point, its quite a long drive, along the fabulous False Bay coastline to a wine estate in Stellenbosch. Sunday hours meant we did the wine tasting before lunch and can recommend the wine plus chocolate tasting on the Spier estate excellent wine, unusual chocolate, and, for a UK visitor, incredibly good value for money at around 3.50 each! Our tour ended with a late lunch in the picturesque Stellenbosch town. Mindful that there are a lot of miles to cover on this trip - and we were there on a busy, sunny Sunday with locals all trying to enjoy a day on the coast - if time we would have liked a few more photo opportunities particularly along False Bay and in the Winelands. Apart from that it was perfect.
