As a photographer and Tour Guide based in Hermanus for approximately 20 years, I am passionate about the Whales, Birds & Nature. There are seabirds, shorebirds, coastal scrub birds, water birds and mountain fynbos to experience within the Overberg. You don't need to be an avid birder, beginners & nature lovers are left thoroughly impressed by the splendour of our area, and I often have guests return for a second tour because there is simply too much to take in all in one trip. Whale-watching usually involves a boat ride on the open water in order to view these majestic creatures. The town of Hermanus has a cliff path that is an ideal spot to see the gentle giants without having to step on a boat. Enjoy a private tour along the shores of Walker Bay where you can spot southern right whales with ease, learning about their habits from your guide.

Instead of having to get out on the water, this land-based whale-watching tour is a peaceful and personalized alternative to crowded boat trips. Travel with a guide in a private vehicle to 5–7 different spots, and walk along paved coastal walkways to explore hidden coves and inlets where whales have been spotted before. As an extra perk, the trip also includes a visit to The Whale House Museum.
