I was looking for a truly private tour for our group of 5 adults and I’m so glad we found Ian. We had the most incredible full-day Cape Peninsula tour with Ian from African Moon Adventures. From start to finish, the experience was thoughtful, beautifully planned, and filled with unforgettable moments. Ian picked us up promptly in a spotless, comfortable new minivan and immediately made us feel welcomed and relaxed.
He guided us through stunning viewpoints along Chapman’s Peak Drive, Cape of Good Hope, Hout Bay, and Boulders Beach — always sharing a true local’s perspective and fun insights that made every stop more meaningful. We enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch in Scarborough at Whole Earth Cafe and ended the day with a lovely wine tasting in Constantia at Buitenverwachting (with Hailey and Chantelle), all perfectly timed and curated.
Ian was wonderful company throughout the entire day: friendly, knowledgeable, easygoing, and attentive to every detail. His timing and planned tour expertly avoided crowded tour groups. We felt like we truly had a crowd free experience. It truly felt like exploring with a friend who knows all the best spots and was kind enough to help us capture some great photos throughout the day.
We couldn’t recommend African Moon Adventures more highly — this tour was a highlight of our trip!

Having Ian as our guide for the day was great. He picked us up at the port and spend the day showing us around Cape Town and the highlights. He took us to a great little restaurant for lunch and I had the best Calamari in the world. Ian was willing to take us to the airport for our flight. If we ever go back to Cape Town I will will arrange several days with Ian as our private guide.

Ian was a very well informed guide having grown up in the area. Covered penguins, cape of good hope reserve including lighthouse, a wonderful lunch a trip back thru Chapman peak and through it all we learned many historical facts.

Ian was a delight! So professional and a great guide with lots of knowledge to share! We really enjoyed the day. I told him what all we wanted to see and he made it come true even with a short time frame. Book him! You don't be sorry. It was a very easy day with lots to see. He took pictures along the way and shared them on Facebook, so I have extra for the day! We're an older couple with some ambulatory limitations and Ian immediately adjusted the pace to accommodate, he's very perceptive. He ate lunch with us!!! We really enjoyed that; such a nice time to visit, where most guides run away and talk on their phone. He got to know us and changed the regular lunch stop to more align with our style and the burger and pizza were great after months of cruise food! He's easy to talk to and communicate with. We were able to get off the ship early and when I let him know, he turned up soon thereafter! He got us back right on time! Perfect day!

Ian drove us (3 adults, 2 teens and a baby) around the Cape peninsula. Cape of Good Hope, the Penguins, seals, spectacular views, great lunch and much more! Above expectations, we had a great time! Ian is truly the perfect tour guide, thanks you Ian!

Ian was great to work with. We had one day to hit some of the key places in the Cape Town area and Ian gave us a grand tour. Our highlights were the penguins at Boulder Beach, the view from the lighthouse at Cape Point, seeing bonteboks and ostriches at Cape Point, and the drive over Chapman’s Peak. We tried Signal Hill but the rain messed up the view. Overall we had a great tour with Ian and highly recommend him as your guide if you get to visit the beautiful city of Cape Town!

Thank you to our driver Ian, who made our day one we will always remember. The van was very comfortable, with cold water and air conditioning. Ian parked as near as was possible at every stop and have us lots of information about the area. My husband and I had a fabulous day with Ian our private tour guide. Great communication prior to the trip as we planned the itinerary. On the day Ian picked us up from our hotel in an Immaculate vehicle. He had taken time previously to plan the day for us around our places of interest, but also around the Cape Town weather. It couldn't have been better. We saw penguins, ostriches, table mountain to name but a few. Ian is a very Kind and trustworthy gentleman who made our day very interesting and informative. I truly recommend the trip, it was a once in a lifetime day and so very enjoyable. It was lovely to be on a private tour, as we could go at our own pace and choose where we wanted to visit together with Ian's local knowledge. I left some belongings in the car and Ian returned them to the hotel for me the very next day which was a lovely surprise.

We had our own itinerary and Ian was very accommodating to fulfill our request. He was very personable and knowledgeable. Our travel companions were delayed for our prearranged departure time and Ian drove us around the harbor area of Cape Town and described the sights while waiting for our friends to arrive. He has a private van and will offer an itinerary for you or take you where you want if you already have an itinerary in mind. He drove us when we arrived at the Cape Town cruise ship terminal up to the Ernie Els winery and restaurant for a fabulous lunch with an amazing view out over the Stellenbosch region.

We booked Ian for three separate all day tours and it was the best way to see the Cape. His knowledge of all things local allowed us to learn each day we traveled. Ian picked us up our beach house in Melkbossstrand for each trip.One the first trip, we went headed toward to Cape Point to experience the area see the vistas and feel the wind. On the way we traversed through the city and the many beaches. We took the funicular to the Cape Point lighthouse and back which was well worth it. We checked out the penguin colony and stopped for a nice lunch in Simontown. On trip two we experienced Table Mountain on a very hot day. Ian made the trip easy and was able to locate out points of interest from the mountaintop. We then visited the V and A harbor area and had a great lunch followed by a trip to the church of Bishop Tutu and a view of a piece of the Berlin Wall. Then off to a seaside bar to enjoy a cold drink by the sea. Ian knew just where to go.On the last trip we went out to the wine country and visited several vineyards and sampled not only wine but gin, beer and chocolate. We visited several historic sites in the local area. Ian was polite, knowledgeable and provided us insight as to the places we visited. He absolutely bent over backwards to make certain we were taken care of. We would use him again on any visit and suggest you do also. Thanks Ian. Cheers.

Before booking our full day chauffeured van rental I did a good amout of research into the popular Cape Town destinations, what other tours had to offer and what we needed to see in our first ever, 2 day visit to the area. After finding this option we realized it was perfect for us because it meant that no one else would be slowing us down. We could move at our own pace, when and where we wanted and that was exactly what we did!
After the booking is confirmed you must reach out to Ian, the guide, to start planning your day. He was incredibly responsive which made me feel at ease about flying across the world with no true knowledge of area. Keeping mind we move very quickly and wanted to pack a lot into the day we planned to attempt the following, with Ian's approval.
Pick up at Cape Town Hotel at 8am
Drive through Haut Bay
Then on to Boulders beach to see the penguins
Followed by Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope
Then finally, Constantia Wine region
Ian gave some great suggestions via email and when the day finally came to take the tour it COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER. He picked us up right on time in a new, comfortable van. We started along the way to Haut Bay making a few stops for photos per Ian's recommendation. We even pulled into a few Marinas / look out points we would not have known about, but truly enjoyed, as we both love photography. We continued along to Boulders beach- Ian joined us, showed us around and gave us plenty of time for photos. Next we were off to Cape Point. I didn't even know there was a gondola ride to the top to see the old lighthouse but Ian encouraged us to do it and it was great!
On the way out of the area we stopped for the classic Cape of Good Hope photo and then grabbed a delicious lunch of Fish and Chips! As we continued on Ian mentioned that we were going to drive by an ostrich farm and ask if we wanted to stop. We said yes, not knowing if it would be time well spent. IT WAS. It was a beautiful area and a quick fun experience to feed the birds.
Finally, we finished our already epic day in the most beautiful wine region, Constantia. I had wanted to go to Stellenbosch but Ian had been correct in saying that it would have made our day to rushed to enjoy. I couldn't have asked for more then Constantia- we went to Groot, the oldest winery in South Africa. The wine was spectacular, the chocolate pairing was expert, the scenery was beyond my dreams. IT. WAS. PERFECT.
We pushed our time frame a bit but Ian could not have been more generous. He never made us feel rushed or a bother. If I could have spent more time in Cape Town we would have hired him for tours of different areas, every day. If anyone I know travels to this area in the future they will be handed his information! This was our 9th night in Africa: we had been on safari and traveled to Zimbabwe and Zambia....but this day is the one that I will remember for the rest of my life.

This was probably the first tour I did after being an official qualified and registered tour guide. Almost time for a return visit to Cape Town. Just say when and I will roll out the red carpet!
