Had a wonderful time visiting Medoc and tasting wines at two different chateaux. Our tour guide was excellent, informative and upbeat (though did make some inaccurate statements about the use of sulfites in Napa wines).

Bordeaux might be famous for wine but a little effort would be nice.

Court_E, Jan 2026
My takeaway is that, because this is Bordeaux and they are famous for wine, they don’t try very hard. No information along the way or about the wineries. Zero customer service at the winery. The measure of a bad wine tour? Nobody on the tour bought a single bottle of wine. Give this one a miss.

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Bonjour, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re truly sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectations. What you describe is quite surprising to us, as providing detailed information, quality customer service, and engaging winery visits are at the heart of what we aim to deliver on our Bordeaux wine tours. We would very much appreciate the opportunity to better understand what happened during your tour so we can look into this matter further. If you’re willing, could you please share more details about your experience by contacting us directly at jeanne@ophorus.com ? Your insights would be extremely helpful and allow us to address any issues appropriately. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to hear from you. Best regards, Jeanne from the Ophorus Team

Our Medoc Tour with Lea

RAIMUNDO_D, Oct 2025
Our experience was very pleasant. Our tour guide (Lea) was very friendly and entertaining throughout the tour. We highly recommend her.

Experience Wine making in Médoc-Margeaux, tasting too.

Fred_H, Sep 2025
Our guide, Roldolphe, was very knowledgeable about the wine making process and business, and most of all, he entertained us thoroughly. It was mid-September and at the Pieuré Lichine winery, we saw the harvest in full swing, grapes being harvested, cleaned and sorted, and dropped into fermentation vats. This was part of an informative tour provided by the winery. This tour included almost every phase of the process. Then the tasting in a comfortable tasting room. Off to another winery for more tasting. During the whole trip Rodophe answered questions, made jokes, and played games. It was a very enjoyable tour, which we recommend highly.

Great Overview

Mike_M, Jun 2025
We were looking for an overview of the region so we could head out on our own better prepared. We got that and humor and fun. It was a really nice afternoon.

Good plan, but flawed execution

Jerry_T, May 2025
Itinerary was good. Wineries were not fancy, but pleasant. Our driver, Maud, was a good guide, pleasant, knowledgeable about the region and wines. Reason for just 3 stars: the winery guide at the first winery, where we spent the majority of our time, spoke quickly, with a serious French accent, so that he was quite difficult to hear by the folks with good ears. For me, with just slightly impaired hearing, I understood almost nothing, so I eventually stopped trying, rendering his narrative useless to me.

Response from Host, May 2025

Bonjour Jerry_T, Thank you for your review. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the itinerary and that Maud made a positive impression with her knowledge and pleasant attitude. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to her. We’re sorry to learn that your experience at the first winery was affected by the guide's accent and speaking pace. Please know that we carefully select our winery partners and their staff, and we rarely receive this type of feedback regarding the quality of their explanations. That said, your comments have been noted and will be shared with the winery to ensure they remain attentive to the needs of all guests. Thank you again for your feedback. Best regards, Carole from the Ophorus team

It was a lot of traveling...

Jacqueline_C, May 2025
It was a lot of traveling from Bordeaux center for a half day. I would recommend a full day tour. Our tour guide was ok, not great. He didn’t really contribute much to the tour. It felt like he was a driver bs tour guide.

Response from Host, May 2025

Bonjour Jacqueline_C, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. You are right, we generally recommend the full-day tour for those who want to truly explore and enjoy the wine region at a more relaxed pace. The half-day tour is designed as an introduction or overview, and we do our best to make the travel time clear in the tour description. Regarding your guide, I’m sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet expectations. This is not the level of service we aim to provide. I would really appreciate it if you could share more details with me directly at carole@ophorus.com. Thank you again for your honesty, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you again on a future tour that better reflects the quality we strive for. Best regards Carole from the Ophorus team

Carol did our wine tour...

George_H, May 2025
Carol did our wine tour and educated us on the region, terrain and grapes being grown in the area. We stopped at one winery for a complete tour and proceeded to another for a tasting. She was a very good communicator and kept everyone engaged.

Nice half day tour of the Medoc region. Learned a lot about the wineries, wine regions, wine classifications, growing, fermenting, bottling. Our tour guide, Anne, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our tour and guide (whose name I never got, but she is a native Romanian). She made sure to include all five tour participants with questions and asking for opinions.

Enjoyed Medoc tastings

MIKEL_G, Oct 2024
Ugo was our guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about Bordeaux wine. Both tastings were enjoyable although we preferred Chateau Siran.

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Dear Mikel_G, Thank you for choosing to explore the Medoc region with Ophorus Tours and for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tastings and found Ugo to be a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Your preference for Chateau Siran is noted, and we’re glad it left a lasting impression. We look forward to welcoming you on another wine adventure soon. Safe travels!

Christine_P, Oct 2024
First, let me start with saying the only thing I would change about this trip is that I wish I had taken the full day tour instead of the half day. Our guide, Helen, was an absolute delight and certainly the reason we had such a great time. Helen is funny and knowledgeable and made the time in route fly by. This is a great way to learn about the region and its wines. Highly recommend and cross your fingers that Helen is your guide!

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Dear Christine, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic experience with Helen on the tour. She truly is a gem, and we're glad she made your trip memorable. Next time, we hope you can join us for the full day tour to enjoy even more of what the region has to offer. Looking forward to welcoming you again!

Karim is the best guide we’ve ever had!

carey, Sep 2024
Best tour ever! Karim is absolutely the best guide we’ve ever had anywhere! We learned so much & had fun! The game on the way back was the best! Hanks Karim for making our day the best on our trip to Bordeaux! BTW We purchased the game in a gift shop!

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Thank you so much for your enthusiastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Karim made your day in Bordeaux so special. It's wonderful that you learned and had fun during the tour. We'll be sure to pass on your kind words to Karim. We're also glad you enjoyed the game so much that you decided to purchase it! Looking forward to welcoming you back on another adventure soon!

Excellent value for money

postutor, Sep 2024
Alice was an excellent host. We enjoyed the stops at both vineyards. The guide at Château Prieure Lichine was particularly knowledgeable and at Château Siran the nuclear bunker housing the wine was fascinating! Coming back, we were treated to a game of identifying smells associated with wine. Overall a good, value for money tour.

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tour and found it to be excellent value for money. We will be sure to pass along your compliments to Alice, as well as the guides at Château Prieure Lichine and Château Siran.

Fun afternoon in the Left Bank

Mary_E, Sep 2024
Had a wonderful time visiting Medoc and tasting wines at two different chateaux. Our tour guide was excellent, informative and upbeat (though did make some inaccurate statements about the use of sulfites in Napa wines).

Response from Host, Sep 2024

Thank you for choosing our tour company for your visit to Medoc. We are thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful time and found our tour guide upbeat and informative. We apologize for any misinformation provided about sulfites in Napa wines and will ensure our guides are properly trained on wine facts.

The tastings and tour...

Eric_L, Aug 2024
The tastings and tour explanations from the Chateaus on site were great. We visited Chateau Prieure Lichine and Chateau Haut-Breton with a very quick photo stop at Chateau Margaux (1 minute). Our driver, Oscar, didn't provide much information during the drive to and from Medoc or between the wine tastings and didn't seem particularly enthusiastic to be there. We would recommend the tour because of the convenience, but wish the driver had taken advantage of the 50 min drive to provide explanations and spoke better English to be able to better understand the group questions.

Very good.

Anthony_R, Jul 2024
The guide was fantastic. Funny, friendly, and kept us on time even with one very chatty guest. The wine was great and I won’t give any spoilers about the venues but they are well worth the visit. The only things would say could be better is finding the meeting point. A sign would be good or just say meet outside the travel information centre. And the booking, make people confirm their language, I feel bad for the couple who spoke French and didn’t realise it was an English speaking tour.

Disappointing experience!

Sashena_H, Jul 2024
Our guide Alice was extremely rude and rushed us through the whole experience. We arrived 3mins late and the first thing she told us in an extremely rude tone: you’re late! As tourist, it can happen that it takes you slightly longer to find the meeting point. Being 3mins late does not warrant such an unwelcomed reception. It sets a wrong tone for the whole trip. At the end of the wine tasting, we took a few mins to buy some wines and she was rushing both the clients and vendors in the process. I don’t think it was worth the money spent. Sadly will not recommend this in the future.

Response from Host, Jul 2024

Dear Sashena, We sincerely apologize for the experience you had with our guide, Alice. We take your feedback very seriously and will address these points with her to ensure this does not happen again. We understand that as tourists, finding the meeting point might take a bit longer and being 3 minutes late should not have resulted in an unwelcoming reception. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and we regret that it set a negative tone for your trip. Please note that sometimes our schedule can be tight, which may have contributed to the sense of urgency. However, this is not an excuse for rudeness, and we will work to ensure our guides manage time constraints without compromising the quality of the experience. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Best, Kevin from Ophorus team

Cabernet Lovers Rejoice

Paul_S, Jul 2024
Our knowledgeable guide was a real delightful! We tasted in the Margaux AOC, including a Grand Cru winery.

A compelling experience

James_L, Jun 2024
The wine education at the first chateau we visited was quite interesting. My partner and I gained an understanding about Medoc and the Margaux appellation . Also, we appreciate the tour as we were not cramped in the vehicle, thanks to our tour guide (Oscar) who made our tour comfortable and light.

Lovely day in Margaux

Allison_K, Jun 2024
We had a wonderful experience on our tour yesterday. Karim is one of the best tour guides we've ever come across. Engaging, fun, knowledgeable. He made our day! The 2 wineries we visited were lovely. Thanks again!!

Half day tour is too short, but can be too long with an inexperienced host and guide!

tram_t, Jun 2024
It was kind of disappointing tour and not worth for its’ value. The guide was somewhat enthuse, but could not break the ice and brought everyone in the group together. The host could not speak well English thus it was difficult for us to understand her; neither that we were explained the wine making processes in depths.

Response from Host, Jun 2024

Bonjour Tram T, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the tour didn't meet your expectations. We take your comments seriously and will address this issue to our guide. We hope you’ll give us another chance to deliver a better experience. Please contact us directly if you’d like to discuss this further. Best regards, Kevin from Ophorus Team

More Medoc, Please!

Joseph, Jun 2024
Most informative guide, interesting and fun with a “surprise” site visit. Highly recommend whether or not a wine enthusiast.

Great left bank tour

Matthew_P, May 2024
We visited two wineries that we really enjoyed and the company was great as well. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to get out of Bordeaux and see the Left Bank.

Lovely

ToniBailie, Apr 2024
This was a very nice way to spend an afternoon touring the countryside and tasting some very good wines.

Amanda_G, Apr 2024
Had a lovely afternoon and our guide was amazing! It was really interesting to see the wineries and learn about the area. Not much wine for the price but a lovely tour!

When does learning ever taste this good?

Russell_E, Apr 2024
A very smart and pleasant guide made the tour. Would have done a whole day. Chateau representative was excellent. Learned a ton of agronomy. Would loved to know more about the business side but not enough time.

Great experience

FRANCISCA_G, Apr 2024
Our guide Julie was very nice and knowledgeable, the wineries that we visited were very good as well !
