We had a wonderful time touring Bergen with Teresita. From the Bergen funicular to the fish market, walking through Bryggen Hanseatic wharf with its historic architecture, visiting St. Mary’s Church, all the while learning the culture and customs of this beautiful social democratic country. Teresita helped us understand the reasoning behind certain customs and what makes a foreigner reside, love and thrive in this colorful city. Thanks for the great tour and the rich knowledge shared!

Reza met me at my hotel, introduced himself and we hit it off immediately. He was very personable and friendly. We mostly walked in the UNESCO area and he told me all kinds of great stories and gave me great information! We then went up the funicular for amazing views. If you request this tour in Bergen, ask for Reza. He is fantastic!!!

Great way to see and learn about Bergen. This private tour covers the city and includes many of the historic sites, including the mountain tram. The tram offers a great view of all of Bergen.

This by far has got to be one of the worst walking tours we have had. We walked in silence for the most part. I had to ask about the buildings , landmarks and statues. The answers were a few brief words and that was it. Did not learn anything from the guide about the history and culture of Bergen. We saw other guides and would have much rather been a part of their group. The gentleman was nice and friendly but lacked the knowledge and enthusiasm I would have expected . Definitely not worth what we paid for. We could have just walked around ourselves for free.

Our tour guide, Bright, was super friendly, polite, and spoke English very well. He was a third-year college student from Ghana and communicated perfectly before the tour, asking what we wanted to see and arranging when and where to meet. However, he wasn’t quite what we expected in terms of a “local” guide. We were hoping for someone who had spent most of their life in the area and could share deeper insights into the local lifestyle, hidden food spots, and unique community facts.

A fantastic private tour that takes us literally all over the city from the top to the wharf along the cobblestone streets and into the neighborhoods. Not only did we get information on how people are living today our guide even had Internet photos of what it looked like back at different times in the history. Shared with us the different Countries that have occupied Bergen and explained why the city is built as it is on an active seaport based around fishing in timber. Couple streets were amazing and the tiny pathways between the small wooden homes definitely needed a guide so you would not get lost! The fish market with his fresh seafood was a delight and really enjoyed the funicular to the top of the mountain to see the view of all Bergen. Pointing out the historical features from the dates on the buildings to the special designs that indicated what type of business it was all the way down to the special colors of paint on the houses indicating the wealth of the neighborhood the historical tower and Fort were amazing to have been built so long ago. Perfect weather ordered for a day walking around the town we covered almost 10 miles in and out of the tiny corridors and special areas of Bergen.

We were wondering when we found out our guides name was Teresita Maria Ortigoza Nunez, but she has been here 20 years and she was GREAT! We went up the mountain for beautiful views, visited St. Mary’s church, and the historic Bryggen district. Teresita shared a wealth of information about the city and life in Norway. Private tours are worth it because you get ALL your questions answered and see the sights that work best. She gave us a great recommendation for dinner and told me to txt with any questions while we are here.

In 15 days and over 10 guided tours throughout Norway, Teracita was the most impressive, knowledgeable, and personable guide of all the guides on our tours. She was wonderful. She avoided repeating all the statistics of Norway as was standard in nearly every sightseeing tour, instead highlighting family and social life in the country. After each colorful description she would say “This is Norway!” She was so much fun and the type of guide we hoped for.

Our guide was ok and she took us to some interesting places. However, there were some things that she didn’t take us to which we were expecting (eg Bergenhus Fortress) and some info was incorrect (such as opening times). She did provide lots of info about like in Norway which was interesting.

This was an extremely disappointing experience.
We asked for an English speaking guide and were promised a local that will share the experience of living in Bergen.
We got 2 people that showed up. Both could not speak English beyond few words!
In addition, they had no idea where to take us and asked what we want. I don't think they were local. They suggested to travel in a their car, though this is a walking tour. They looked a bit shady and we had to give up on the tour before it started.

Some effort must be made to pair up the visitor with the local resident. For example, age of clients, fitness of client vs that of guide and interests. Perhaps even a short survey by company to make sure of compatibility.
Concept is great. Local person was personable and willing to answer many questions. She went above the requirements to make our visit pleasant and enjoyable.

from the start this was a disaster - text - meet at Starbucks 10 am - (found out later 3 starbucks in Bergen) - 10 minutes late - "what would you like to see?" your the guide - "well I'm only a cook" oh - well what do you suggest? "not sure" - by this stage my partner decided to return to ship - I persevered for one hour while the "guide" took me to his workplace - a local pub - then the police station, local lake and suggested we catch the train up to the lookout - oh the line is too long!!! oh well what else - by this time I gave up and returned to the ship very disappointed -
