Itinerary
Meet your guide in central Belfast and soak up the scenery on the drive through the Glens of Antrim. After a short stop for photos at Carrickfergus Castle, continue along the rugged Antrim Coast to reach the first stop of the day – the famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.
Brave a walk across the historic rope bridge (March-Oct only; extra cost), which passes 100ft (30m) over the Atlantic Ocean and connects the coastal cliffs of Northern Ireland to Carrick-a-Rede Island.
Next, enjoy free time to explore the Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage site. Snap photos of the extraordinary natural wonder as you clamber over its unusual basalt columns and look out over the windswept coast. Be sure to ask your guide how the Giant’s Causeway got its name too – Irish mythology tells stories of a giant named Finn MacCool.
After strolling along the Giant’s Causeway, stop for lunch at one of the coastal restaurants (own expense), before starting the journey back to Belfast. Along the way, stop to roam the ruins of the seafront Dunluce Castle, and hear how the medieval castle was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones.
After an action-packed day, end your tour back in central Belfast.

Meeting early in the morning after a concert was a bit of a slog but the fantastic attitude and sense of humour of our tour guide had us perked up and attentive for the entire bus journey. They took the time to explain key historical moments , interspersed with humour and light-hearted chitchat.
The Antrim coastline is breathtakingly beautiful and the stops along the way were all phenomenal. We were given ample time at (most) stops to explore and take in the sights. Food at the designated dinner spot at the black hedges hotel was quite expensive, running £17 for a buffet plate, as such id recommend taking your own lunch or getting something from one of the spots along the trip that does things a bit cheaper.
The giants causeway was more than worth the trip and exceeds it's reputation for beauty, I do wish that more time was possible there but that would be logistically difficult.

Dave the guide was fabulous. Knowledgeable and entertaining. He made the tour worth it. Sites where beautiful

This tour was the highlight of our trip! I cannot recommend it enough. The bus was clean, comfortable, safe and easy to find. Our tour guide Dave was attentive to attendees, incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable, and ensured that we had ample time at each location to explore. The castles included were definitely worth visiting and the highlight was of course the Giants Causeway which included various points of access for differing needs/preferences. I would advise packing your own lunch or being prepared for a pricey meal as our only option seemed to be the Dark Hedges hotel. Overall an amazing experience!

Our guide was great (although he lost his voice, poor fellow!) and the rope bridge was inaccessible (not the tour’s fault), but the extra time we had was spent at Dark Hedges: my least favorite stop. The “buffet” lunch was a waste of too much money. The food was horrible and expensive; go to the tea shop next door and get a sandwich instead. The “dark hedges” look NOTHING like the pictures online; it’s basically a country lane with unremarkable trees. Spend more time at the castles or Giant’s Causeway which were interesting and fun!

We paid the top price £35 each for a luxury coach trip. The seat in front of us was broken with the effect for the full trip of the passenger in that seat leaning back with about a 12 inch gap between the seat and one of my friend’s face. Complained (nicely) to Stuart our guide to be told that he’d had trouble with the coach we were due to be on, so would adjust it with Dave the driver at the first stop. They didn’t, and neither did they apologise for the situation. Left us feeling very unheard and ignored and spoiled the day. Also did all he could to ensure that no one used the onboard toilet, I suppose so that cleaning wasn’t necessary?! Hardly the point of having this facility.

Great trip. Went with my ten year old daughter and we both enjoyed it. Hugh our driver was friendly, helpful, good natured and informative. Quite a lot of time in the coach vs time at some of the stops which might be a consideration for some but plenty of time at the main “feature” of the Giants Causeway. Worth noting there is an alternative option for lighter food at the dark hedges to the hotel buffet although this wasn’t flagged by the guide.

Our guide and driver, Troy, was outstanding. It’s a long day, but worth it. Thanks, Troy! From Canada.

We had a fantastic tour of the Giants Causeway and many other beautiful destinations on the journey too and from Belfast.
Mark was a tour guide and driver and gave lighthearted and insightful commentary during the experience. Plenty of time at each location and lavatory/eating arrangements are all considered. Would highly recommend!

Overall, the tour was good. The tour bus driver was also the tour commentator. Mark did a great job keeping us informed and ensuring all the participants understood the expectations. He interjected humor throughout the drive. Two things to note: The Carrickfergus Castle was a bit disappointing. It is undergoing refurbishing in one area, and there were construction materials spread out everywhere. Also, there are a few areas that are listed on the printed guide that were not accessible even though they did not appear to be part of the refurbishing activities. The other disappointment was Dark Hedges….unfortunately, many tress have died and the avenue has lost its grand appeal. The Dark Hedges could be dropped from the tour to give more time at Dunluce Castle, which was an amazing historical site that we rushed through. Giants Causeway was amazing. We picked this tour operator because they provided the more time at the Giants Causeway than other operators. You will need the time so you can do both the Red Walk and the Blue Walk to taking in all the views. (We happily skipped the visitor center at the Giants Causeway thanks to the advice found in the tour description…so I cannot comment on the value of the visitor center)

Breathtaking scenery, grand castles and the highlight of the Giants Causeway.

Our group of friends thoroughly enjoyed the tour to Giants Causeway and the tour of castles. Mark from City Belfast Tours was a wonderful guide and driver! He made the day fun and we learned a lot. Scenery is not to be missed. 10/10

Great tour on a lovely day. What a beautiful Country! The waves were crashin' it was so beautiful. Also loved that they had a bud to bring you back up, only one quid.
Andrew_H, Apr 2026
A large number of sights to see and a coastline and countryside to marvel at. It would be too complicated to research and plan this yourself if you are on a short visit.
Dave was a great tour guide keeping it informative but light along the way.
I would recommend this trip to others.
Jason_G, Apr 2026
Good tour to experience the coastal road and visit the giants causeway. Driver Dave was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Pleashette_A, Mar 2026
Excellent tour. We stopped at every planned stop even if it rained! I especially appreciated that each stop was timed short enough so we didn’t get bored at any one place. Our driver and guide did an excellent job and was quite the story teller and very gracious with everyone even though he did two jobs in one!!
Andreas_K, Mar 2026
Dave was an excellent driver and tour guide. You really come around and see all the spots mentioned with enough time to visit every place properly.

Fab Sunday well spent as a family, where for once, someone else was doing the driving! Mark was our driver and guide for the day and from the moment we approached the bus, we knew we had chosen the right one! He was very pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable and highly entertaining throughout the trip, whilst remaining professional. We had the same group of late comers at our stops and he was very calm and patient, although we wished they could be left behind LOL Our little one was very excited throughout the trip and we all had a fantastic time and would not mind coming back and also recommending! We wanted a relaxing day from a normal work/school week and this delivered. We were also very lucky as the weather was fabulous!

Really fun trip. Our guide Brian answered every question we asked. Every stop was interesting and worthwhile. Our guide and driver were great at communicating. Highly recommend
Lydia_H, Dec 2025
Dave, our driver and guide was amazing. Everything was timed well to include plenty of time at Dark Hedges and Giants Causeway. Wouldn't describe the coach as luxury; the mobile phone charging points didn't work. Apart from that, it was a great full day's adventure.
Sylvie_B, Dec 2025
funny and knowledgeable tour guide, great sites, awesome time! tour guide really made the experience!
Emily_T, Dec 2025
This was an amazing trip! Troy was a great driver who provided loads of information and made the journey entertaining. We had many stops at some lovely castles and a great lunch spot. The giants causeway was breathtaking, it was a nice sunny day and the waves were massive, making for the most stunning landscape. Wed highly recommend this trip to everyone!

Great tour, all as decribed and value for money as full day out. Plenty of time at Carrick Fergus Castle, Dark Hedges, Dunluce Castle and Giant's Causeway. Dave, our driver, was very funny, but informative and kept us entertained and on schedule. Would definetly recommend as saw so much.

We picked this specific bus trip because the amount of time at the Giant’s Causeway is 2 hours and we were able visit inside both Dunluce and Carrickfergus Castles, plus take the Dark Hedges walk,
And Dave was a really good and funny guide/driver.
Edwina_M, Oct 2025
It was really a nice experience.
Our Driver Tour Guide Dave made the tour even more interesting and funny from the time we left until we return to belfast.
torriwoods, Oct 2025
We enjoyed this trip a lot. David was awesome and kept things on time and moving. It was so appreciated that we moved along so we were able to have ample time in each spot and arrive back on time.
Be prepared to pay extra (not a lot though) for both castles. Lunch was lovely.
Mike_A, Oct 2025
Great tour. Well worth the price. The driver Dave was knowledgeable and hilarious at the same time. We were thinking about doing the drive ourselves but decided this would be more relaxing.
Tracy_B, Oct 2025
Great day from start to finish! Our driver was Troy he was funny and kept you informed of where we were going from each place ! Our trip was Giant Causeway etc! Would definitely recommend it great value for money !
Richard_S, Oct 2025
Storm Amy provided a lot of rain and wind, but our tour director/driver Hugh was brilliant. He provided an interesting discussion of the history, culture, and geography of the region we traveled through. Despite the rain, there were enough sunny opportunities to appreciate the magnificent scenery. And, while the National Trust had limited access to some of the sites because of the weather, Hugh made sure we at least saw everything on our itinerary except one castle. At the end of the day, experiencing the Giants Causeway in extremely windy conditions was an adventure in and of itself.
