Chris is so lovely and knowledgeable! He gave great perspective on both sides and told the story of this dark time in Belfast’s history with such empathy, as well as hope. Highly recommend!

Excellent history and overview of the Troubles. Tommy was a fabulous guide who went into a lot of depth. What was especially appreciated is how he talked about those who died by name. It was moving and troubling but ended on hope for peace.

It's a great tour, talking about the history of the troubles and some of the key moments. It's not a boring history lesson though - it's done in a way that makes it both engaging and interesting. It's 2.5hrs so wear comfy shoes and take a jacket - the weather changes often in Belfast.

I came to Belfast specifically to learn about The Troubles, largely because I realised how little I truly understood and wanted to challenge my own ignorance. I also have a friend with Irish heritage, which made it feel even more important to take the time to learn.
This tour was genuinely one of the most powerful and memorable experiences I’ve ever had and I haven't stopped gabbering on about it to anyone that will listen since I came back home.
Our guide, Mylie, was absolutely exceptional. This was not just a history lesson, it was storytelling at its very best. She brought the people, places and events to life in a way that was deeply moving, respectful and unforgettable.
What stood out most was how personal the tour felt. Mylie did not reduce the history to statistics or simply say “three people died here” or “100 people died there”. She gave names, backgrounds and human stories to the people who lost their lives. That made the history feel real in a way I had not expected.
The headset system also made the whole experience feel very intimate, almost like having a personal storyteller sat on your shoulder as you walk the streets. Because of Belfast’s healing process, there are fewer visible memorials in the city centre, but our guide made sure those stories, those names were still heard and remembered.
I came away realising how much I had not known, and how important it is to listen properly to the stories behind the history. I grew up in London and was once very close to a related incident as a child, so I thought I had some awareness of this period, but this tour gave me a much deeper and more human understanding.
It was thoughtful, emotional, educational and beautifully delivered. I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone who wants to understand Belfast, it's future, The Troubles and the people whose lives were changed forever.

Our tour guide Ann was very knowledgeable about The Troubles. We learned quite a bit about those times of conflict. Our tour was great and would recommend it.

Roisin, our guide, was super informative. We learned so much about Northern Ireland's history as we walked. We saw a large part of the central city.
Wendy_D, Apr 2026
A guided walking tour through areas where actual events of The Troubles occurred created an experiential way to understand the conflicts and devastation. Not only were issues of The Troubles explained, but also the events that preceded the 1960's helped participants better understand why The Troubles began. Miley's vast knowledge of Ireland's history was incredible!

What a fantastic walking tour that covers The Troubles and political history of Northern Ireland - detailed, yet accessible with a lot of packed in. I consider myself a history buff but still learned a tonne. What makes it unmissable however are the real human stories and wonderful guide Mylie.

It is a great walking tour to learn about the city and its history regarding conflicts of the past and general history of Northern Ireland.

Really informative talk . As a first time visitor to Belfast I realised how little I knew about the troubles and history of the city .
Chris imparted ,sometimes difficult information, with impartiality and compassion.
Absolutely brilliant

An unbiased tour of the Irish “troubles” From a very knowledgable guide. The pace of the tour and the respect shown for the Irish people was impressive.
Tatiana_C, Apr 2026

A great tour. Our guide, Mylie, was absolutely incredible—amazing mastery of the subject, engaging delivery, personable and knowledgeable. Wove together the history of Belfast with a great view on the city’s present.

Wow! James was fab and so knowledgeable on The Troubles. Really good experience and such a friendly guy. Thank you so much.
Anita_B, Nov 2025
Incredible. To my shame I was originally dissapointed that our guide Mylie was an American but that changed within the first 30 seconds of her speaking. She really really knows her stuff and delivered it in a very engaging way. It’s the best city tour I’ve ever done anywhere. I grew up during the Troubles and quickly realised that being English I have only ever heard one side of the story. It was great getting both sides of it on the tour. I really appreciated hearing the individual stories of people as well as the political history. Belfast is a great city but this just put the icing on the cake for me.

Very nice, knowledgeable and emotional guide - nice tour, only weather good be better😆, but this is November, could not help. Thank you Myllei, sorry if I spelled name wrongly (American lady in Belfast).
Brenda_O, Nov 2025
More standing and listening than actual walking! If it isn’t raining you can often find dry seats. You do visit key locations for explosions and loss of life. It can be very sad.
Anita_C, Oct 2025
This was a wonderful experience. We learned so much about that time in Belfast's history and The Troubles. The guide was a young man living in Belfast during that time and had many first hand experiences to share. The tour takes a neutral position and just presents the facts. We would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in the history of that time

Extremely good value for money! I learnt so much from a really knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. Lovely way to view parts of the city and I would highly recommend! Thank you Miley for a lovely morning :)

Our tour guide was an excellent communicator. He had lots of great information, facts and personal stories that made the history of the area come alive. He spoke confidently and seamlessly as we moved around the city.
Inga_B, Oct 2025
Amazing tour! Really gave a glimpse into the religious and political struggles of Ireland and how it shaped it’s history.
Chris_S, Oct 2025
Anne was our tour guide and she was tremendous! She was extremely knowledgeable about the subject, well spoken and very personable. She was a little girl when the troubles started so she was able to give a first-hand account of growing up during this phenomenally turbulent time. You are truly blessed to have her as were we.
Annie_G, Oct 2025
One of the most interesting and poignant tours. Jim contextualized the history leading to and during The Troubles and left us with the hopeful present and future. Most importantly, as someone who was himself affected by that time in history, he gave a voice and names to the victims. Not an easy tour, due to the subject matter, but definitely an important one.
Francisco_N, Oct 2025
This walking tour was a highlight of my time in Belfast. Our guide was not only knowledgeable about Belfast’s history, but also passionate in her presentation. I highly recommend this tour, especially on your first day of visiting the city.
Carmel_V, Oct 2025
Chris gave an unbiased account of the dramatic events that tool place in Belfast during the terror years. Very ‘interesting’ to say the least.
William_O, Oct 2025
Very History Rich tour of Belfast’s troubled past and developing future. Roisin was a great guide! A new appreciation for Belfast’s history (and Ireland’s as a whole) and current political challenges Northern Ireland (or the “North of Ireland”). As a Catholic American of Irish decent I found the discussion to be very neutral and focused on both sides of the issue leaving the participant with all the info they need to draw their own conclusions. I personally think it’s very good that things seem to be working themselves out non-violently and there seems to be hope for the People of Ireland no matter what side of the border they fall on. God Bless.
barbara_b, Oct 2025
This was an excellent tour. Our tour guide Rorey was great. His knowledge in the history of Ireland was so good. I would recommend this tour to everyone
