Simple but amazing. We’ve done a few elephant tours over the years marketing as eco tourism but they weren’t. These guys are the real deal. Crazy man is delightful and was amazing in calming down a few cranky US tourists who wanted a tour guide from pick up. The elephants are just wonderful and it was quite serene and I like the smaller groups. Food was simple but good. Worth the 2-3 hour trip from Bangkok. I felt good when I walked away and not sick about their treatment. Highly recommend this and glad we finally found a proper sanctuary. Baby Charlie was a highlight. Loved hearing their stories and seeing à lack of fences.

During our visit, one of the guides asked me to teach him ‘Black slang’ and followed it with racially insensitive jokes directed at my partner and me. It was an uncomfortable experience that overshadowed what should have been a memorable day. We hope the company invests in sensitivity training for their staff. Visitors of color may want to research other options before booking

The elephants were awesome and the staff very helpful. 100% recommend. Really cool experience to get up close to them. They look happy and healthy.

The experience at the elephant sanctuary was amazing. Absolutely worth doing. Our only gripe was the fact that the description said travel would be 1.5 hours, when it was closer to 3 hours each way. Even so, we would go there again.

I was a little hesitant about this visit, thinking it might be another elephant "show", but thankfully it really IS a Sanctuary for elephants where the ones they have are rescued from either "logging" or "riding" places. It was a wonderful experience and very educational as well

Great day spent at Sanctuary although only 4 elephants there that day as some were unwell. We were served a lovely meal and then got to feed the elephants and then walk with them to to a watering hole where we got in with elephants and helped cool them off. The guide was very knowledgeable and took plenty pictures of everyone which we were then given FOC via scan/download the next Day. I did feel that the time there was a bit too long and the day could have been an hour shorter.

This was a really awesome experience. Bring some bug repellent if you are bothered by flying insects. They are not horrible, but easy to eliminate from your day. The interactivity with the elephants was well managed by the incredible staff at the sanctuary. Seeing elephants unrestrained and without enclosures is a great way to see their true personalities up close. You can feed them, pet them, bathe them and get your photo ops during this excursion. The trip was also very informative which I was grateful to experience, as well. Lunch was delicious and beer was available for sale which was a big plus in my book!

We visited the living green elephant sanctuary outside of Bangkok and had a mixed experience.
The guide (Mod) was excellent—very knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the elephants. The camp itself is very remote, set out in the jungle, which adds to the authenticity.
That said, it’s about a two-hour drive each way from Bangkok, so it takes up most of your day—something to consider if you’re on a tight schedule.
There were only five elephants on-site during our visit, as a few were at the hospital. The experience felt a bit limited because of that. It was also extremely hot until a sudden downpour rolled in.
One thing that gave me pause was the water activity. The pond is a man-made retention pond without flowing water, and we saw elephants defecate in it while visitors were still getting in. Personally, I chose not to participate due to concerns about cleanliness.
Overall, it’s clear the sanctuary is trying to provide a better life for elephants compared to riding camps, which is commendable. But between the long travel time, conditions, and having previously seen elephants in the wild in Africa, this didn’t quite live up to expectations for us.
Glad we experienced it—but probably wouldn’t do it again.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your detailed review. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the guidance from Mod and appreciated the natural setting of the sanctuary.
We are sorry about the long distance from Bangkok. However, as this is an elephant sanctuary, it needs to be located far from the city to provide a proper and peaceful environment for the animals. Our focus is on animal welfare rather than visitors’ convenience in traveling.
Regarding the number of elephants, it is important that it matches the size of the area to ensure they have enough space and a good quality of life. For this reason, we cannot have too many elephants on-site. We also kindly ask not to compare this with the experience in Africa, as those are natural wild conservation areas where animals already live freely, which is a very different context.
As for the water activity, the pond is designed for the elephants, not for humans. The water is regularly refreshed to maintain hygiene, but we understand your concerns and appreciate your feedback.
Thank you again for visiting and for recognizing our efforts to provide a better life for the elephants.

This was a great way to see elephants up close in Thailand. It was a long drive from Bangkok but it was nice to get a couple hours outside of the city to experience this. Handsome man was a great guide and taught us a lot about the sanctuary and animals

Spent the afternoon with the elephants, was a fantastic experience, fabulous lunch followed by feeding the elephants, sitting with them, they were so friendly and gentle, crazy man the guide was very good, he knew so much and was very jolly! Was very warm and we were provided with plenty of ice cold water. We were told about each of the elephants and where they were rescued from. The elephants were all very happy and very well looked after. Fabulous trip and well recommended!!

Jambi was the best host ever. He was very passionate about the Elephant Sanctuary and the care of these large beautiful elephants. Jamba or Crazy Man as he is known by was extremely thorough in his delivery. But most of all, his since of humor was on point. We couldn’t help to love him.

Our visit to Living Green Elephant Sanctuary was one of those experiences that sticks with you long after you leave. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place is built around genuine care for the elephants and a mission to give them a better life.
The sanctuary itself is huge, giving the elephants plenty of space to roam and just be elephants. Each one has a dedicated handler, which made the interactions feel calm, respectful, and very personal. We got to feed them, walk alongside them, and even join them in the water to help cool them down. Being in the water with such gentle, powerful animals was incredible—one of those moments that makes you stop and appreciate how special wildlife really is.
What really impressed us is that many of the elephants here are rescues from difficult situations. The sanctuary has veterinary care on-site and access to specialized medical services offsite when needed, which shows how serious they are about long-term wellbeing and rehabilitation.
Our guides, Guapo and Crazy, absolutely made the day unforgettable. They were hilarious, energetic, and clearly incredibly knowledgeable. They shared so much about elephant behavior, their rescue stories, and the work being done to protect them, all while keeping the experience fun and engaging.
And the food—truly amazing! It was such a nice touch after spending the morning with the elephants.
But the thing that stayed with me most was something our guides said: if you remember one thing from today, it should be that protecting elephants and giving them natural habitats shouldn’t only happen here. It should be happening all over the world. Supporting Living Green or any ethical elephant sanctuary helps make that possible.
That message felt really powerful. This wasn’t just a fun activity—it was a reminder that small choices, like where we visit and what organizations we support, can help create a better future for these incredible animals

Only area I’d recommend improving is the lunch should be covered at all times, as there are lots of flies in the area

We had an amazing experience at the Living Green Elephant Sanctuary. We were greeted by very friendly staff and fed a delicious lunch of pad Thai with fresh watermelon. They offered plenty of chilled water bottles all afternoon. There was also a small shop that sold further refreshments and cold beer. The sanctuary was beautifully kept and the 8 elephants were all so well cared for. We learned so much about elephants and the team. We fed the elephants and were able to take photos with them and swim with them. All just such an incredible and memorable experience I will never forget.

She speaks English and has historical knowledge of the palaces and insights to the rituals and setting. She helped me get a taxi to go back after the tour and waited to speak to the driver so I was re-assured to get to the right place, my hotel. She was kind too.

Lovely experience. Mod - our guide was funny, knowledgeable and you could tell he loved his job. The elephants roam free but come down to be fed and watered and you can jump in the water with them so take swimwear. The elephants take food from your hands so great for photos! We were fed and watered as well and there is a small shop where you can buy a soft drink and gifts but this shop only takes cash. Would throughly recommend this experience.

Absolutely amazing afternoon spent with the elephants and their guardians. Handsome man/ rad (our guide) was amazing the food was good although it was vegetarian pad Thai. I can't fault this place or their ethics. You can get up close to the animals without them having to do tricks for their food. They have a baby elephant who is 9 months old and was a pleasure to watch. He's notoriously naughty so caution was applied around him
