Snow closed the road to Moraine Lake so we hiked the Stanley Glacier Trail instead. Our guide Jodie was very enthusiastic about the history and geology of the area. The pace was good for the group and the scenery was magnificent.

Chloe was a great guide. Even though it rained a bit on us, the hike to the Plain of 6 Glaciers was awesome inspiring. The lunch was very hearty. Photo ops galore!

Fabulous mountain hike

Fantastic day hike!

HiuLam_C, Oct 2025
I did the Larch Valley Hike and it was fantastic! Super well organised, pick up and drop off was on time, and the packed lunch was great. But our two guides Evie and Jade (hope I got their names right!) really elevated the experience - they were friendly, experienced hikers and made the whole group feel very safe and welcome. I was also lucky enough to have a great tour group, which made for great conversation! This is my second Discover Banff tour and I will always recommend this company if you’re looking for a great day out in Banff.

Pretty, moderately challenging hike.

David_B, Sep 2025
This was a good, pretty, moderately challenging hike of approximately six miles. It was good to do it in the morning as there were many people coming up the trail as we descended after lunch.

We ended up doing the Larch Valley Trail Hike - it was fantastic and the views were stunning. Sam and Tim were very helpful and knowledgeable guides. When they say pack layers, definitely pack layers and lots of water!

This small group hike was a terrific way to get away from the crowds and enjoy the mountains. Tina was an excellent guide who shared her love for hiking and the outdoors.

Take a Hike—You’ll Be Happy You Did

Kim_P, Sep 2025
Great communication from this provider. Wonderful day hiking. Positive vibe from knowledgeable guide. Was so impressed by our guide, Tina. She was right on time, excited to share her love of hiking and managed the group well. She had different skill levels of hikers but her pace was good for all and she stopped to let us catch our breath and take photos as needed. We not only all successfully navigated the 6.5 mile hike, we all became friends over the 7 hours we hiked the glacier.

The type of landscape...

Jarrod_B, Sep 2025
The type of landscape that you see on this walk is what made me want to visit Canada to begin with. To say that the peaks and valleys are breathtaking is an understatement. We were also in the very capable hands of Sam Noble - a brilliant guide. A knowledgable hiker, passionate about the environment, and full of banter and stories. Sam knew how to look after the group and teach us a thing or two about the area we were visiting.

Our tour guide was...

Elaine_H, Sep 2025
Our tour guide was wonderful and the hike had just the right amount of incline for a moderate hike. We got to see some beautiful clear water and there was a waterfall at the end of the hike.

a good hike

Raquel_S, Sep 2025
We´re supposed to do the Larch Valley Hike, but due to bad weather in the area, we drove back and did the Lake Minnewanka hike instead. My family did this hike already. Well, it was a good hike, but we were in for something more spectacular. We did so many hikes in Europe: France, Switzerland, Norway, Wales, Italy, Austria... this hike wasn´t what we expect that day. A more exciting location could´ve made it a better deal, but our tour guide decides, of course. Not so much to say about the place, you just have to enjoy the sunny weather which made it a great hike. I think I share the same feelings about it with the other participants that day. Lunch pack was good!

Amazing guide & hike!

Paola_S, Aug 2025
This guided hike was such a great experience! We were a group of 5 friends and had Evie as our guide. She is awesome!! So sweet and knowledgeable. Our hike was in Stanley glacier for about 5 miles roundtrip. We had a great lunch spot with views of the mountains. Would highly recommend!

A Guide Named Spencer—Exceptional and Memorable

Venkatesh_S, Aug 2025
What genuinely transformed this from a routine hike outing into an extraordinary memory is our guide Spencer who was nothing short of outstanding: 1. Polite, Caring, Considerate, Patient Spencer’s calm and attentive demeanor wasn’t just courteous—it created space for everyone to relax, enjoy, and connect with nature (and each other). 2. Passion for Geology (and Wood Frogs!) His deep knowledge of Canadian Rockies geology made each viewpoint richer. The endearing tidbit about wood frogs added a charming personal touch—and a fun biology lesson along the way. 3. Group Mindfulness & Inclusive Leadership Spencer paced the hike with a keen sense for group energy and ability, stopping to rest and pause for explanations so no one felt rushed or left behind. He treated everyone in the group with care, and watched out for all of us!

Kyla was so great! She was very knowledgeable about the area and had entertaining stories to share. Kyla was very cognizant of each individuals activity/skill level and was so helpful if anyone had any difficulties.

Amazing and experienced staff that made you feel safe! Highly suggest this tour and beautiful views!

Spencer’s tour.

Donna_M, Jul 2025
Spencer, our guide was so knowledgeable about the park life. He knew about the flowers, trees, plant life and geology. He took us to Consolation Lake which was a fairly easy trail. There was a little scramble over the rocks at the beginning and a slight incline but he paid attention to the various ages in our hike and was quite accommodating.

Best hiking tour and guide!

What an incredible time we had with our guide Georgia! She was very thorough and knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend her again! Michael & Christina

The trip is great value for money. Our guide, Ray, was excellent, the hike was really enjoyable and the included lunch was great. Overall a fantastic and well organised experience.

Plain of six glaciers hike review

Brenda_B, Jun 2025
The hike was absolutely amazing, stunning views, awesome photo ops, and great pace. What truly made a difference was our guide, Heidi! She was very knowledgeable about the trail, flowers, the teahouse, and shared very interesting stories about her previous experiences. Highly recommend, especially if you get to have Heidi as your guide! :)

not great

Kathy_C, Oct 2024
Well, although the Viator guide was great, the hike was very disappointing, as I did not sign up for a snow hike. It was rather treacherous for me--not to mention quite cold as snow was falling & the trail was completely snow covered. I had spoken to someone via Viator the noc before and expressed my concern at hiking in the snow. He told me a decision would be made in the morning. There was no snow in Banff, where I met the guide and 2 fellow-hikers, so it seems like an alternate trail could have been substituted that would not have presented such conditions and would have been more like the hike I was execting.

Plain of Six Glaciers Hike (September 2024)

tlatortue, Oct 2024
Brook(e?) was a wonderful guide with a great sense of humor. Her passion for hiking and outdoor adventures exudes through the experience. I thought the pace and intensity was perfect, and even though our hike was cold and cloudy, the views were still incredible. No one on this hike was left behind--safety was the priority--and our group was surprisingly pleasant and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hike to others!

Mediocre

Jenny_L, Sep 2024
Unfortunately our guide doesn't appear to be experienced. Only highlight is that we met a few interesting folks in the group. But there is really no value add from the service provider.

Extremely Disappointed in missing out an experience of a lifetime!

Michael_A, Sep 2024
Unable to go- the tour guide told me it was a very difficult hike and I was under the impression it was a moderate level as stated. So I lost out on my money! Not very happy about that.

Brianna=best guide

Kara_S, Sep 2024
Had the pleasure of hiking with Brianna, and I can’t recommend her enough! From the moment we met, her warm and friendly demeanor made everyone feel at ease. She took the time to assess each person's skill level and tailored the hike accordingly, ensuring everyone had a great experience. Brianna’s knowledge of the area was impressive; she shared fascinating insights about the local terrain that enriched our adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a beginner, highly recommend booking this hike and requesting her!

Hiking the Stanley Falls trail

Deb_E, Aug 2024
Personable tour guide. Felt safety and comfort were addressed. Unfortunately did not find any of the fossils.
