Overview

Rent a sailboat in Aruba for one hour, or book the option that includes a captain/instructor if you don't know how to sail or would like to learn. This 1-hour rental allows you to enjoy the waters of Aruba with the help of the island's northeasterly trade winds, which can reach more than 20 knots. When booking, you have the option to select a 14- or 16-foot (4.3- or 4.9-meter) Hobie Cat sailboat.

What To Expect

Your sailing experience starts at Palm Beach, where you'll board your 14-foot or 16-foot Hobie catamaran; the 14-foot can hold three to four passengers while the 16-foot can hold four to six passengers.

If you're renting the boat to sail yourself, take off for an hour of exploring Aruba's Caribbean waters. If you select the captain/instructor option when booking, you can either relax while the boat is sailed for you or learn how to sail yourself—it's up to you to be as active as you wish.

We rented a hobi14 and went sailing along the Aruba coast, we had a great time! Staff is very friendly and helpful. We're experienced sailers (Dutch) and did not book a captain. Sails were trimmed to match the wind speeds, but we still managed to capsize the boat (it you know how to sail a Cat, you know that's perfectly fine), we righted the boat and kept on sailing. Again, staff was great and the experience even greater.

Broderick was a great guide, guided my son (11) to sail and park the hobie cat like a pro at the beach. He pointed out sea turtles we would have missed and was knowledgeable about the area. If you’re looking for a more remote sailing experience, this isn’t for you, there plenty of sailing and power traffic in this area but it didn’t distract from the experience for us.

Nelson was the perfect instructor! He did a great job explaining everything and teaching me how to sail. After only a few minutes I was doing it mostly by myself! This is the perfect tour if you’ve ever wanted to learn how to sail but have zero experience. Highly recommend!

I am sorry to say that my solo sailing lesson/trip could have ended badly. Between the wind gusts and the variable waves, we ended up capsizing! The captain struggled to get the Hobie Cat righted and then had to sail away from me for a bit to be able to turn around to come back and get me. Then it was very difficult for him to pull me back on board. I did not panic but was quite shaken as there was no way for us to get help and I can’t imagine if one of us had been knocked unconscious. It was unfortunate because the sailing itself was delightful.

The location of the boat was at the Hilton Hotel. Even tho we didn't reserve through the Hotel, we were treated wonderfully. Great support from the Staff! Sailboat was in perfect condition! If we were to be able to do this again, we would not hesitate!

On May 17 we first rented the 14ft hoby cat which was fun. We are good sailors and this boat didn't perform very well with the wind so we rented online the 16ft for the afternoon. However the 16ft had the same small sail and staff didn't want to change it to a bigger sail due to the weather, too much wind. The owner agreed to refund us the USD 55. They have sent emails to viator to cancel the booking and refund us the money. Unfortunately we never received the USD 55 back. This is bad from Viator but also bad from the company to promise us something which they cannot deliver.

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with us through Viator, unfortunately, all platforms have their policies and there was not much we could have done. The reason for a smaller sail on the bigger cat is because of the wind conditions. We always check the wind conditions before deciding on the sail sizes for the day. This is for a better experience while you are out there. If the winds are low, you will have a different experience with the bigger sail. But this all depends on the time of the day and the wind conditions. We hope to serve you in the future again when you visit One Happy Island.
