Overview

Take advantage of the powerful trade winds of Aruba and book a private windsurfing lesson. Receive a short explanation and demonstration about the wind and the equipment. Practice until you’re comfortable enough to head out on your own. This is a private lesson for one or two people, so couples are welcome to learn together.

I would definitely recommend this experience! My instructor was friendly and patient, and was very understanding when I realized that windsurfing was just not going to be something that I was going to be good at. I had booked an early appointment slot and the part of the beach they are located on was not busy at all at that time. The instructors here will definitely make sure that you are safe and have lots of fun at the same time.

Shamar was teaching us extremely quick and seemed like he had an attitude. We learned more without his help when he left us for an hour. Also they almost scammed us out the entire excursion by saying they already came to pick us up at “315” when it CLEARLY says 330. Then they try to say “ohh the lesson starts at 330” ……. And it does not say that anywhere on the app. If you want ppl to be ready at 315 then maybe put that information on there.

I had a good time learning to windsurf (note: read as trying to windsurf). I appreciated that water shoes were included - this was not something I had thought to pack. The only drawback of the experience was how crowded the area was with people wind surfing/kite surfing/ect. It was difficult to stay within the small area requested and stay away from people who were learning to kite surf.

It was a great experience, we had a lot of fun. Our instructor, Louis, was very patient and professional ensuring we as beginners did not go too far out and showed us how to dismount the boards for less possibility of injury, which came in handy. We had a fabulous time!

Rudolph was fantastic! He was so patient and kind . Rudolph made the lesson fun and not intimidating! We laughed at all my wipeouts and cracked a lot of jokes. I would recommend him as an instructor to anyone learning!

mixed experience

mixed experience. their water shoes are disorganized so it took me 5 minutes of hunting to find a pair that fit me. the worst part is that my instructor started windsurfing on her own about 30 minutes into the lesson and stopped paying close attention, moving far from me on her windsurfing board. she said it was because i was doing so well. doesn’t matter - im paying for a lesson - you should watch me and tell me what i’m doing well and what i need to change. don’t take it as an excuse to go windsurf. when i made clear that i was annoyed and needed more instruction, she was defensive. this aspect more than anything left a bad taste then she made a mistake and pulled me, the board, everything out of the water 20 minutes before my practice time was actually up. to their credit, the person at reception offered to put me back in the water and let me have more time or to give me a free hour the next day.

Good intro to windsurfing

Great time! I did the lesson as part of a stop in Aruba on a cruise, and found that it worked out great. The shop provided me with all of the gear I needed, as well as free transport to and from the cruise terminal in Oranjestad. I really enjoyed the lesson, and my instructor was very patient in showing me the ropes. It’s also an absolutely gorgeous spot, albeit a touch busy with other windsurfers and kiteboarders (although I never found we got in each other’s way). Would definitely recommend! Highlights: • The location • Patient instructor • Friendly staff Things to improve: • Pickup at the cruise terminal was a little unorganized (although I get the sense it was unusual for them, so I understand) • More instruction on the beach. Sounds weird, because I know people typically just want to get in the water, but it can be difficult to hear the instructor once you’re on the water and start sailing away from them, and distracting when you have the board in front of you and other people are zipping around in the water, so even just a 5-10 minute primer on the basics (standing on the board, position of the feet, how to angle the sail, etc.) I think would have been helpful and facilitated faster learning. Good to know: • They do not provide a wetsuit (not that you’d really want one because it’s so warm), and the sun is strong, so bring a swimshirt. • There are no changing facilities, so best to come in your bathing suit • It can be quite bright with the sun reflecting off the water and the white sand, so if you have sunglasses with a strap, you’ll probably appreciate bringing them

We had a good experience with this lesson being our first time ever windsailing. Alfredo explained everything very well start to finish and provided helpful feedback, support, and video of us sailing at the end of our lesson. There are a few chairs to relax in sun/shade, an outdoor shower to rinse off (no bathrooms) and safe area for backpack storage behind register area. Our interaction with staff was professional, they accommodated our last minute hotel pickup (my bad) and recommended lunch a walkable distance down the beach. I would advise an early morning lesson as we had the beach/water to ourselves starting out and then it became increasingly crowded as the afternoon progressed. We would recommend Aruba Active Vacations for your Aruban experience windsurfing/kiteboarding or equipment renal needs!

Ramon, is an excellent instructor…..he is very patient and funny. My husband and I sincerely enjoy our day. Ramon and his comrades also directed us to a few very beautiful snorkel sites. ❤️❤️❤️

Luis was a great teacher. He started with the basics, then slowly had us combine each step until we were up on the boards and actually wind surfing! A great experience! Wear a sun shirt though, the sunscreen wasn't enough for us.
