This was such a lovely workshop! We had no idea what went into making worry dolls before our class. It was an incredible experience to be able to create something so special to the area and bring home such a memorable souvenir.

Make a traditional worry doll and meet a Mayan family!

A wonderful initiative that helps local families make traditional dolls. After a journey in an iconic 'chicken bus' to a neighbouring village, we were welcomed into the home of a local craftswoman, Dona Rosa, who interpreted the Mayan tradition of the worry doll and taught us how to make our own. Astrid, the local tour guide and interpreter who accompanied us was pleasant, articulate and knowledgeable. An unforgettable experience and a very worthwhile enterprise that helps the local Mayan community. Perfect!

The doll-making in itself was very enjoyable. Doña Rosa’s personal story is also very touching. However, it is a bit far to go for a 1-hour activity, hence the 4-star rating.
