I originally booked the...

I originally booked the 10:30 course cooking class, but on the day of the class, the host let me know I would be the only participant and offered to move me to a later time. I appreciated being given the option, though I wish I had been informed a day or two earlier. I’ve taken solo cooking classes before and had no issues, but given the amount of food being prepared, I preferred joining another participant later in the afternoon. Overall, Andre was an amazing chef, and his sous chef Janet was wonderful as well. I truly enjoyed learning about the culture and traditions behind the dishes. This cooking class was one of the highlights of my trip. 10/10 recommend for anyone who enjoys exploring new cuisines and experiencing different cultures.

Great excursion!!!

This excursion was really cool!!! Traveling up through the mountains was so beautiful. I wish the time at Hobbitenango was a bit longer, but it was still pretty awesome. Driving on the cobblestone is a challenge, but we still enjoyed it as we got to explore more of Antigua while riding through the town. Our guide made us feel extremely comfortable, got us through the busy-ness of the Antigua streets, and we got to enjoy time as a group getting to know each other. We enjoyed learning about the chocolate/cacao process and the vibe overall. I Highly recommend!!

Best class ever- even if you don't usually like cooking!

Wow, what can I say, this was the best experience we had while we were in Antigua. Milton, the chef and school owner, promptly met us at the meeting spot and we walked to the Central Market. There, he gave us some background and history about Guatemala, Antigua, and the market. He took us off the beaten path of the market, where the locals buy anything and everything they need. It was kind of chaotic but amazing in itself. After we left the market, we took 2 tuktuks to the school, which is also his family's house. The kitchen/school is on the rooftop terrace. There, we collectively cooked a snack, main dish, and dessert with the guidance of Milton. It was nice to learn how other cultures use different flavors in their dishes and everything tasted incredible. Milton is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. He can also make accommodations for special dietary needs, you just have to let him know ahead of time. I highly recommend this tour, even if you're like me and usually don't like cooking!

Went on a Sunday...

Went on a Sunday afternoon and ended up being a private class for me and my friend. Super fun, the only thing I wish we knew was that sundays you don’t go to the market. Honestly, probably the best food we had on the whole trip since we made things that weren’t as commonly found in restaurants. Dario and Victor were amazing and we had such a great time with them and learned so much about the history behind the food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cooking class.

The Absolute Highlight of My Trip — Don’t Skip This

This was hands down the best experience of my entire trip to Guatemala. Our tour guide went above and beyond, taking us out of the typical tourist circuit and into her own neighborhood, and a few others, where we got to enjoy truly authentic street cuisine. This wasn’t a curated, watered-down version of local food. This was the real thing. What surprised me most was how much I learned along the way. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging that I walked away with more history and cultural insight than I did from a dedicated walking tour of Antigua. She clearly has a deep love for her city and it showed in every stop we made. And the food? That’s what I’ll be talking about for months. Every bite was memorable and I’m so glad I said yes to trying everything. My only regret is not having enough time to book a cooking class with this company — because if this tour is any indication, everything they offer is top tier. You can just tell they genuinely care about the experience they’re creating for visitors. Do not pass this up. Go hungry, stay curious, and try every single thing they put in front of you.

This was a must do...

This was a must do experience in Antigua! I have never driven an ATV and it was very easy and so fun. Our guide was awesome and was very informative. Stopped at Cerro de la Cruz and then drove through Antigua to Jocotenango to visit Finca La Azotea. Had a great tour learning about how coffee beans are grown, processed, and roasted. Then, we got to try their three different roasts. Additionally, we went to their chocolate factory and got a lesson on how cacao beans are processed to make chocolate. Our guide was great and took pictures and videos of us! 10/10 experience and would totally do it again the next time I visit!

Fun Cultural Tour

This was a great tour that took us to smaller towns outside of Antigua. We visited family-run businesses, including a chocolate factory, coffee plantation and textile weaving business; and a village market where we tried local foods. Riding the ATVs added an element of fun to the cultural excursion. Highly recommend!
