Had an amazing experience on a coffee tour in this little town a 15 min ride from central Antigua. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much insight into the coffee-making process—from bean to cup. The tour was well organized, offered great value for the price, and the hospitality truly stood out. Everyone was warm, welcoming, and made the experience feel personal and authentic. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area! Pls check out the local company B1 experience directly

What a fun tour! We walked at a slow pace toward the coffee field. The guide and Don Filiberto gave us TONS of info on the process of growing coffee, as well as how it's prepared for consumption. Ended up at Don Fili's house where we roased our own beans, ground them on a metate, and then made our own coffee! Don Fili sells coffee, and we picked up a few small packs for family back home.

An amazing experience with our guide, Axel! Filiberto did a wonderful job teaching us how he makes his coffee. The 4x4 ride to the farm was so much fun and the coffee was delicious!
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your review! We are so glad Axel and Filiberto made your experience memorable. There's nothing quite like a 4x4 adventure followed by a fresh brew, right?
We appreciate your support and hope to welcome you back to Guatemala very soon
Shelby_D, Jan 2026
Great experience all around. Everything was easy to find, and the guides were very knowledgeable. Not only did they explain the coffee process, but also would point out various plants around us as we walked to the farm. Going to the farmer's house was a cool experience as well, allowing us to roast and grind our own coffee beans to make our coffee.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for your kind words. We’re really happy you enjoyed the experience and the chance to learn about coffee and local plants. Roasting and grinding your own coffee is always a special moment. Hope to see you again someday.
Chongtat_S, Jan 2026
It has been a plant-to-coffer experienced. I get to see the coffee farm and knowing the process of growing the coffee beans. In th end I roasted and grinded the coffee, and make jt into a cup of coffee.
My guide Axel arranged the tour very well although I am the only one in the tour. He is knowledgeable and very patient translating between the coffee former and myself.
Definitely for people who want to know more about coffee.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for your kind review!
We’re very happy you enjoyed the plant-to-cup experience. It was a pleasure to have you, and we truly appreciate your interest in learning more about Guatemalan coffee. We hope to welcome you again soon!
Vadim_G, Jan 2026
If you could do only two things while you are in Antigua, this activity must be in your list. Some suggestions:
- definitely choose the 4x4 option as the drive up into the coffee fields is most definitely worth it,
- if you are lucky, you get Axel as your tour guide which is a show onto itself,
Everything about the trip was special - seeing the coffee grow, and then spending time in the farmer’s home actually roasting and grinding it by hand and then getting to drink it - an absolute must.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
Thank you so much for this amazing review! We’re really happy to hear how much you enjoyed the experience, from the 4x4 ride to spending time at the coffee farm and in the farmer’s home. Your kind words about Axel and the tour truly mean a lot to our team. We’re grateful you chose to share this experience with us and hope to welcome you back to Antigua one day!
Caroline_B, Dec 2025
The coffee tour was really a great experience. First we went on a short hike up the volcano to see a coffee farm. My guide and the coffee farmer identified all sorts of interesting plants along the way, and the view was gorgeous. Once we got to the coffee farm, we saw how the coffee is grown and learned about the plants. Then the farmer brought us back to her house for a demonstration of coffee sorting and roasting. At the end, we drank fresh coffee and had some cookies and I was able to purchase some coffee to bring home with me. All in all a very memorable experience and I'm so glad I went.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and kind review! We are truly happy to hear that you enjoyed every part of the experience—from the hike and beautiful views to learning about the plants, the coffee process, and sharing fresh coffee.
It means a lot to us that the interaction with our local coffee farmer made the tour even more special and memorable for you. Supporting local families and offering authentic experiences is at the heart of what we do.
We’re very grateful you chose B1 Experience and hope to welcome you back to Guatemala again someday.

This was an amazing coffee farm tour with two great guides! Axel met me right on time at the pick up spot, and we were joined shortly after by Martha. We then traveled to the coffee farm, where they explained the whole coffee growing process to me. Then they showed me how to separate the best of the coffee beans from the others, how to grind the coffee beans, and how to make the coffee itself. It was a very hands-on experience, which made it even more intersting.
Response from Host, Jul 2025

the guide and the coffee farmer were eager and pasisonate to share what they know about coffee, farming and other aspects of guatemalan country life. i was originally hesitant to join after having participated in one coffee experience a few days ago in el salvador. this visit was far more in depth and gives perspective on the intricacies of coffee farming, plant biology, the actual hands on picking, processing, roasting and making of coffee. i really appreciated it
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're glad to hear that this experience provided you with a deeper perspective on coffee farming and Guatemalan rural life. It’s wonderful that you appreciated the hands-on aspects and the knowledge shared by both the guide and the coffee farmer. We truly value your feedback and hope to welcome you back for more enriching experiences in the future!

We were unsure what to expect as this was our first tour in Guatemala and with Viator, but we were very impressed. Louis met us right on time and was so personable and friendly. Martha was our guide who shared so much information about coffee from seed to cup. Though she spoke little English, Louis did an amazing job of translating. Both Louis and Martha were thoughtful, attentive and knowledgeable with a great sense of humor despite the language barrier. As a matter of fact, with Louis as our translator, we didn’t feel that there was a language barrier.
We were fortunate in that my husband and I were by ourselves in the tour so received such careful attention. I believe both of our guides would have done the same though, no matter how large the group.
The hike was not difficult but I would recommend hiking boots if available. My tennis shoes got pretty dirty by the end.
We would highly recommend this tour!
Response from Host, Mar 2025
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had a great experience on your first tour in Guatemala with us. Louis and Martha will be delighted to know that their friendliness, knowledge, and attentiveness made your tour enjoyable and memorable. We’re also glad that the language barrier wasn’t an issue and that you felt well taken care of. Your recommendation about hiking boots is very helpful for future travelers! We truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!
Claire_Y, Feb 2025
I had an amazing experience on the coffee farm tour! Our guide, Axel, was incredibly knowledgeable and explained every step of the coffee-growing and roasting process in a way that was both informative and entertaining. His sense of humor made the tour even more enjoyable, keeping everyone engaged and laughing throughout. The farm itself was beautiful, and tasting the freshly brewed coffee at the end was the perfect way to wrap up the experience. Highly recommend this tour for coffee lovers and anyone looking for a fun and educational outing!
Response from Host, Feb 2025
I really appreciate your fantastic review! We’re excited to know that you enjoyed your time on our coffee farm tour. Axel will be pleased to learn that his expertise and humor made the tour enjoyable and educational for you. We are very proud to showcase the coffee-making process and create a memorable experience for our visitors. It's wonderful that you appreciated the charm of the farm and the freshly made coffee at the conclusion. We sincerely value your suggestion and look forward to hosting you again soon.
Su_B, Jan 2025
Our guide was Axel. His english was excellent and her really taught us a lot about being Guatemalan. We met Cristobal, the coffee farmer and walked uphill for about 20 minutes to where his coffee trees were. We learned about a lot of different crops, but mostly learned about how work intensive it is to grow small batch coffee. I would strongly recommend this tour over one of the coffee farms. You get to see a real piece of Guatemala, and it helps the coffee growers too. Wear closed shoes as you do walk up a rocky dusty road.
Response from Host, Jan 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like Axel provided an incredible tour, and it's great to hear how much you learned about Guatemalan culture and coffee farming. Visiting Cristobal’s coffee farm must have been an eye-opening experience, especially seeing firsthand the hard work that goes into growing small-batch coffee. Your recommendation and tip about the shoes are very helpful for future visitors. Supporting local growers while enjoying an authentic experience is definitely a win-win!
Ernesto_C, Dec 2024
Axel and Marta were wonderful hosts and tour guides. We learned more than we could have asked for about coffee growing and processing. We are grateful to have had such an authentic experience and we would highly recommend to anyone considering this tour.
Response from Host, Dec 2024
Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re so pleased to hear that Axel and Marta provided you with an exceptional experience and that you gained so much knowledge about coffee growing and processing. It’s wonderful to know that you found the tour authentic and rewarding. Your recommendation is truly appreciated, and we hope to see you again for another unforgettable adventure!
Tomos_L, Nov 2024
This is right at the top of my list of things to do if you’re visiting Antigua, it really is the ultimate coffee farm tour, and much more.
Axel, along with his brother, and Martha the farm owner, were the perfect company on this tour; the whole thing was incredibly informative, but felt so relaxed at the same time. On top of everything, we learnt about the fruits and flora along the path to the farm, and ongoing development of modern homes on nearby former farm land.
The tour as a whole is more than worth the price, and certainly so knowing the profits are split with the farmers. All with pick-up and drop-off to and from your hotel!
Can’t recommend this enough!
Response from Host, Nov 2024

Furthermore, we are pleased that the benefits are shared with farmers, as we believe in supporting the local community. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to meet again in the future for another adventure. Hasta pronto!
Samantha_T, Sep 2024
Possibly one of my most cherished moments in Guatemala. The guide was kind and friendly and helped to translate all of my questions to the farmer. We got to see the process of coffee from bean to cup, the way it is done in villages around Antigua. We even got to go to the farmer's home to process the beans and drink the final result. Delicious! It was a small intimate group and they even helped me get to and from Antigua!
Response from Host, Sep 2024
Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like an incredible journey, especially with such a knowledgeable guide. Seeing the coffee-making process firsthand and enjoying the final product at the farmer's home must have been unforgettable. It's wonderful that you had a small group to share this intimate experience with, and that the logistics were taken care of. Moments like these truly make travel special!

We had a wonderful time on our coffee tour! Axel was a wonderful guide. He was informative and very prepared with visual aides and all, providing information regarding the farm as well as the culture. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Filiberto and his family were excellent hosts. They were very welcoming and took us through coffee making from A to Z. I would highly recommend this tour!

Regina_W, Jan 2024
We loved this very personal tour that gives you very indepth knowledge on all the steps of growing and making coffee on a small local farm. We felt it was a great experience to see the more rural aspects of life in Guatemala and were invited into their home to roast and grind the coffee ourselves over their stove. The coffee itself was some of the best and freshest artisanal coffee we've had. We bought some to take home and have already used it all and now I am really sad I can't find coffee that tastes as good as Filberto's.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
We really appreciate you taking the time to leave us your five-star review. It means a lot to the whole team, and we’d love to have you back very soon.
sharanya_r, Dec 2023
Beans, brews, and breathtaking views! Tour Rural de Café was a caffeine kick and cultural immersion all in one. From learning about bean to cup with our guide Axel and coffee farmer Martha, to sipping fresh brews at Martha's welcoming home, it was a total win. Plus, those volcano panoramas! Highly recommend for coffee lovers and adventurers alike.
Response from Host, Jan 2024
On behalf us all of us at B1EXPERIENCE, I would like to thank you for sharing this great review about our coffee tour! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your experience.
Richard_v, Nov 2023
Axel, our guide, picked us up in front of the hostel and drove us to the town where Don Filiberto welcomed us. He, with help of Axe, gave us a lot of interesting information into what it takes to create a delicious cup of coffee. From the planting process itself, to how the aromas are transferred into the bean, nothing was too much to elaborate for us. They really took the time to answer all the questions. Axel is proficient in the English language and translates the explanation of Don Filiberto in an easy way to understand during a little hike into the coffee plantation. After hiking back down, we were invited into Don Filiberto’s house, where we could roast and grind beans in a fun and authentic way. After that we could drink the coffee we prepared ourselves! The host even had delicious cookies for us to go with the coffee. Talk about hospitality! Who knew what amount of effort it took to create a cup of coffee. In the end I purchased some coffee beans too take back home. Can’t wait to try them!
Response from Host, Jan 2024
Thank you so much for this review. We really appreciate you being a customer and helping to share the word about us. We’re here for you anytime.
Raunak_S, Jul 2023
The entire tour was an authentic experience. We not only learnt about the coffee but also learnt about coffee farmers lives - the fun part of their job as well as challenging parts.
Marta who is a coffee farmer is incredible and she showed us the entire coffee production process.
Axel who was our tour guide / english translator was genuinely the best one. He helped us learn so much about the hostory of antigua.
All in all 11/10 experience. Must recommend if you are looking for a small scale coffee production experience / rural / no frills
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a 5-star rating – it’s much appreciated! We hope to see you again soon.
Emmely_C, Apr 2023
I love learning about where things come from and how they are produced. Learning about the process of making coffee from the planting of the seed until you have the actual cup of coffee in your hand was very interesting.
And you could not ask for a better farmer or guide/translator. Filiberto the farmers was very sweet and knowledgeable, teaching us about the coffee making process and letting us take part in the process was very interesting. He also told us about some of the plants we passed on the way and their use in Guatemalan medicine. Alex the guide was also very good and made sure everyone understood everything.
I'm an avid tea drinker, and when I drink coffee it's always with milk. After having sorted the beans, tried roasting and grinding, we got to taste the coffee, made as cowboy coffee. It was by far the best coffee I have ever tasted. No milk needed.
I highly recommend this tour, bit for the interesting knowledge and the yummy coffee.
Response from Host, Apr 2023
The team here at B1EXPERIENCE is thrilled to receive such a great feedback and rating, thank you.
Ludivine_D, Apr 2023
It was such a lovely experience ! Filiberto is explaining all his work, welcoming us in his farm and in his home so we can understand all the steps of the coffee process. He is really nice and Axel the tour guide is also perfect for this tour ! I would definitely recommande to do this, even more if you want to support local community
