Turn onto Comsat Road. It's a left if coming from downtown Talkeetna. It's a right turn if coming from the Parks Highway (just watch for the "Talkeetna Lakes Park" sign). Please pay the parking fee of $5 per vehicle. We look forward to meeting you for a wonderful hike!

Great day in the woods

We had a great and easy hike with Adam. He is extremely knowledgeable about the trees, the mushrooms, and the berries…we got to try fresh blueberries on the trail. It was a good way to spend the day in Talkeetna and a great way to learn more about Alaska. Adam picked us up at the Burger Barn across from where the buses drop off people staying at the lodges. We drove in his van for about ten minutes to the trail head. There is a restroom at the trailhead….there is no water so bring hand wipes and bottled water. There is also a bathroom in the gift shop next to the Burger Barn…the owner has a donation box in the bathroom to cover supplies. Adam has hiking sticks if you need them. He also offered us yummy blondies from a local bakery at our halfway point.

We’re comfortable clothing for bug season. Bug spray and water for drinking. What a great hike with Bernard. He was very knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend this hike. Beautiful safe way to hike in unfamiliar territory.
