Avoid Ethio Tours!

Avoid Ethio Tours!! This one of two tours we booked with Ethio Tours(ET) via Viator, was a major disappointment of our expensive vacation. ET never showed up to pick us up from our hotel. We had to chase them with Viator’s help to get a response. We were then handed to three different drivers before our tour started, three hours late from the start time. We opted to cut the tour short before it was late in the day due to security concerns. Ethio Tours might be a major tour provider and had reputable past but it should not be in this business. Avoid!!!

Interesting tour. A bit of a drive …. At least you get a chance to get out of the city …. The guide was knowledgeable of the area and the local guides were extremely helpful as well. Ayob was a young ambitious tour guide . Had a great local lunch with the guide. I appreciated the extra efforts by Ayoub (The Guide) in navigating the short hike to the bridge. I really enjoy meeting the friendly Ethiopian everywhere.

Some of the best views I’ve ever seen, guide and driver were very experienced and they know the place well. The church gave me a very different feeling when comparing to other churches I’ve been to and it was eye opening. The mountains… stunning. We also enjoyed a great lunch with a movie-like view, would absolutely recommend everyone to join this tour.

At the first there were some logistical troubles, but then the tour was amazing. Eyob is a great guide and very easy-going, I learnt a lot about Ethiopian history and music. Yarid is a fantastic driver. Recommended!

The hotel rang the company the night before to confirm a 9 o'clock pick-up the next morning. The hotel had to ring again in the morning as no-one turned up apart from some random person who wanted to put us in a taxi ! Another person turned up, was verified by the hotel, and we then picked the guide up somewhere on the way out of the city. The guide was young, had poor knowledge and poor English. Because we left so late we missed going inside the monastery as a service was already taking place. He kept telling us that Ethiopia was very safe and if we wanted to go to the bridge. He then said we were not going to the bridge because it was unsafe. I had to tell him a number of times to turn down the music blaring out of his phone. Do not use this guide and or company !

a good day trip but missed blue nile gorge

Very well organized and we had plenty of time to explore the church as well as walk around the bridge. The lunch was also very good. The only downside was that we never made it to blue nile gorge :(

3 hours late for the start of the trip for so called change of car, that happened to be... 3 hours to quickly find someone that could pass for a guide. good driver, nice place, shame they wanted to skip the most beautiful views of the portuguese bridge because they forgot we had to see it... I had them drive back to go there.

The best way to spend a day in Addis

Despite the the fact that the way we left the city and met other members of our trip was a little bit sophisticated, I really enjoyed the tour. The panoramas, view points, dinner, baboons (!!!!!)... It was really exciting! We also had a traditional coffee stop) The best way to spend a day in Addis Ababa if you're waiting for your flight. Highly recommended!

visite du monastère très intéressante mais la maîtrise de l'anglais nécessaire . Les femmes doivent se couvrir. La visite du portuges bridge est géniale. une petite marche dans la nature et découverte de la cascade. cela a ravi nos enfants (6 et 13 ans)
