What are people saying about Oaxaca

Best food tour, must do experience
Amazing food tour led by Eli. Learned about so many different foods but also culture and history of Oaxaca. My friends and I are big foodies and very knowledgeable about a lot of different foods and yet Eli showed us things we had never even heard of, and took us to spots we would have never found on our own. Food itself was of course amazing. Great pacing, you walk 10k steps but there are breaks to sit and eat. Tour takes about 6h but we could’ve kept going til dinner! My friend wanted to mention she especially loved the fruit tasting. They are super prepared and have hand sanitizer and wipes for everyone so you are comfortable and clean. We did it on our first day in Oaxaca which I highly recommend bc it helped us get situated in the city, learn about history and culture, see some major areas, and know what food to look for for the rest of our trip.

Great Time, But No Drinks
This was a great time, real adventure tourism, the horseback ride is great with calm, able horses. Hot springs, lovely and well maintained. Great views, through farms, jungle, and over some pretty rocky steep terrain. Making 6 river crossings as well! Weather will limit how much you can do, for our September tour, we did not visit the homes or have mezcal tasting. Our host did provide us bottled water, but no coffee tea or alcoholic drinks were available as advertised. Come prepared with water, and go to the restroom before the trip, there are extremely limited bathroom facilities as well.

Outstanding but very long day trip
Adriel was our tour guide and David was a very capable driver. Adriel made everything very easy, his English was perfect and he was easy to understand because he spoke with a California accent! (Made us feel at home because we are from Sacramento/Lake Tahoe) Be aware that the Hierve El Agua Route is an 11.5 hour marathon tour and it's a wonderful excursion but it's a very long day! The highlights include a very extensive mezcal tasting at a local distillery. We ended the day with a very pleasant buzz (not staggering drunk). We highly recommend "Oaxaca By Locals" as one of the premier companies in the area. Our next trip will be their Jalatlaco Free Walking Tour.

We had a fantastic...
We had a fantastic half-day trip to Hierve el Agua from Oaxaca! Our guide Luis was friendly and helpful from the very beginning, and he did a great job explaining the different sights and towns we passed along the drive. He and our naturalist guide were both extremely knowledgeable and made exploring Hierve el Agua even more interesting. Luis also gave us some great local food recommendations in Oaxaca, and one of the restaurants he suggested ended up being our favorite meal of the entire trip! Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we’d highly recommend Luis and the tour.

Many travelers agree that if you only have time to visit one place in Mexico, it should be Oaxaca. The state has some of the country’s most iconic food—from its seven types of mole to flaky tlayudas (stuffed tortillas)—plus inspiring natural beauty and colorful architecture. Oaxaca tours let you explore like an expert, whether tasting street food in Oaxaca City or discovering the Monte Albán ruins. You can also learn to make mezcal on a plantation, marvel at a petrified waterfall, or head to the coast for surfing lessons.
