At 09:30 a wooden longtail pushes off from Ratchaprapha Pier, and until about 16:00 you are out on Cheow Lan, a lake within Khao Sok National Park. The man steering grew up on this lake and watches for where it runs shallow. The boat heads first for the Three Brothers (Khao Sam Kloe), a trio of limestone columns climbing straight out of the water. Next it pulls in at the bank and your guide takes you into a cave. Out of the sun it feels cooler, and the rock is flecked with minerals that glitter as you move through. Further along you land again where a waterfall marks the edge of the jungle, and walk with your guide among tall rainforest trees. Lunch is a simple Thai meal on a bamboo raft house. After eating, swim off the deck, paddle a kayak or rest in the shade until the longtail takes you back to the pier around 16:00, and we drive you to your hotel. The trip was great! Our guide was Sea (aka Beauty 😉) and she and her crew were amazing. We received all necessary information in advance and their instructions were clear. Her english was very good. They took good care of us and made sure we enjoyed our time. They offered us plenty of water and fruits. The boat was new and in great condition and they are taking very good care of it. They also offer the option to pay for a photographer to take your photos during the trip which was very good because you get in the water every now and then and it was not possible to use our phones

The boat tour through the villages and the floating market was also fabulous. Unfortunately, my heart went out to those whose homes and storefront were flooding. We had such an amazing time on this tour, and our guide Sasa was honestly one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. She was funny, friendly, knowledgeable and sweet. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in the group was comfortable, clean and having a great time, from spraying our hands with sanitizer before eating to dancing & singing handing out cool face towels. We loved riding through the busy streets of Bangkok at night, seeing the beautiful temples lit up, learning about Thai culture and trying so many delicious foods. Exploring the city by tuk tuk was such a fun and unique experience, and every stop had something different to offer. Each couple had their own tuk tuk and driver. We can’t recommend this tour enough! It was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Bangkok.

Informative and enjoyable

Paula was our guide and she expertly shepherded our group through the very busy temple complexes, keeping us entertained and informed along the way. She has a charming and humourful manner and kept us out of the baking sun as much as possible, at one point getting us onto an air-conditioned bus to avoid a hot walk, and also stopping for a smoothie. The time flew by, despite the wilting heat. Paula's English is heavily accented so required close attention but this didn't detract from her enthusiastic story-telling. Be wise (unlike some other reviewers!) and dress appropriately for heat and for temples plus bring a little cash for extras, and you'll have an excellent experience.

What an amazing day! Loved meeting the elephants! Feeding and spending time with these gentle giants was such a unique experience. Bamboo rafting was a fun bonus. Sticky waterfall was such a fun adventure! Rueang is a terrific guide. He took good care of us, explained everything clearly, shared just the right amount of education and always made sure we had cold water to drink. Bang, our driver, was great, too. You must do this trip!

It does not get any better than this.

Without exaggeration, every single dish on this tour (there are 16 in 5 or 6 stops) is the best thing you’ve ever tasted in your life. There is zero way to improve on this experience. You couldn’t swap out a single dish for a different version, and all 6 ppl on the tour had a different “favorite.” There’s a massive amount of food, and I could only manage 1 or 2 bites of each one, but I would wish I could repeat each of them… slowly! Johnny and Muay were our awesome guides - you’ll be lucky if you get them!

While venturing out to the Phi Phi Islands during the start of rainy season is probably not something most people would recommend due to the unpredictability of the weather, what I will say is that this tour likely became the highlight of our trip because of Yaya, the captain and crewmate, as well as the patience and generosity of the manager (I’m so sorry I forgot your name but you were so lovely in the brief time we spoke). For starters, the day was looking pretty bleak and dark, and with the cost of the trip in my mind, I was worried that it was going to be a total bust. The manager and team were super understanding of the situation, and gave us multiple options to assuage our concerns given the weather conditions. That alone was huge for us right there, as we didn’t feel locked into anything we didn’t want to do especially with factors outside of our control. We decided to go with one of the options which was venturing out to James Bond Island first and then deciding later whether to do Phi Phi Islands or not. Long story short, we ended up taking the risk and deciding to do Phi Phi Islands too, and thankfully we did — the weather cooperated with us just enough and cleared up even so that we could get the maximum potential of the trip. The boat ride and journey with Yaya and the team was fantastic — they were very attentive, knowledgeable, and overall just a lot of fun to be around. Let me emphasize that they helped to make the cost of the trip beyond worth it. There’s nothing quite like walking into Maya Bay, with the weather not only cooperating with us, but the beach almost being entirely cleared out and empty because of the time of the year we selected to go. Also, Yaya is an exceptional photographer and videographer — we have some pretty insane footage that we probably would not have been able to take by ourselves without her help. Highly recommend the tour and the team we were paired with.
