See a side of Bangkok that most travelers don’t get to see as you cruise along the canals of Thonburi. Set sail along the klong (canals) of the Chao Phraya River in a traditional longtail boat and enjoy a glimpse of local life in the Thonburi district of Bangkok. Enjoy up to two hours on the water and stop to visit Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House) and Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen.

Get a glimpse of local life in Bangkok on this guided tour of the Thonburi district’s canals by traditional longtail boat. Lasting around 2 hours, and with your choice of departure times throughout the day, it’s easy to fit in your schedule.
Meet your licensed English speaking guide near Wat Pho and walk together as a group to board your longtail boat. Soak up the sights and scenes of local life as you cruise along the canals.
At Baan Silapin (The Artist’s House), you’ll have enough time to walk around the historic and restored wooden house and learn more about Thai culture. The boat tour also passes by the Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, with a stop to take photos of the temple’s massive Buddha statue.
The tour ends back at the departure point.

- The most convenient way to reach the meeting point, and avoid Bangkok’s often congested road traffic, is by taking the MRT (metro) to Sanam Chai Station. From there, take the 'Museum Siam' exit. The meeting point is just a short 5-minute walk from the station.
- Please note that during the tour, we may experience a wait at one of the water locks, which regulate canal levels. These operate on no fixed schedule and are beyond our control.
- Bangkok’s traffic can be heavily congested. As our tours run on a group basis, we can wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. After this grace period, the guide will begin the tour. If you cannot make it on time, please let us know before the tour starts. If possible, we’ll do our best to reschedule you for the next available time slot or day, though a rescheduling fee will apply. No refund will be provided in case of late arrival.
- Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour start time are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or in case of no-show, no refund will be issued.
- Our tours operate rain or shine, as tropical rain showers in Thailand usually don’t last long. If it rains heavily, we try to seek shelter and will continue as soon as the weather improves. During the rainy season, it’s a good idea to bring a raincoat or poncho. Please note cancellations due to weather are not eligible for a refund.
- Not recommended for travelers with mobility issues, as boarding and disembarking the boat may be difficult due to the lack of stairs at the piers.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 300 travelers

We had lots of fun on the canal tour. It is just super interesting to see how people live alongside the canal, to observe the patches of nature appearing between the buildings and to look at the beautiful temples and sculptures throughout the tour.
There is lots of "wildlife" to spot during the boat ride, including fish, birds, turtles and water monitor lizards. We even saw a baboon-like monkey walking on the rim of an abandoned house's backyard. According to the guide, this individual supposedly fled its owner one day and has since been roaming through the suburbs of Bangkok.
The stop at the little art market next to the canal was also very enjoyable.
Our guide Joe was entertaining, infectious with his positive mood, and shared lots of knowledge about the canals.
Throughout the whole journey, we felt very safe on the boat, even though the weather was quite windy that day.
Highly recommend the tour, it was well worth its price.

Half day activity, very cool. You might get a little wet 😅. Activity consists of a canal ride, a break at a cool market by the canal for food and souvenirs, and the ride back by boat to the pier.

A really enjoyable, well-organized tour with beautiful scenery, interesting facts, and a highly competent tour guide. The only drawback was not *quite* enough time at the mid-tour market, but it was certainly enough to intrigue me and make me want to come back!

Clumsy tour. Transfers not worth it - pick up too early and then you have to sit around for 45 mins to wait for tour to start and return transfer late and nowhere near where we were dropped initially. Couldn’t wait so took a cab back to hotel at additional expense. Guide not in the correct location as per tour instructions - opposite jetty… and very hard to understand. Scenery the only interesting thing, but you could do this on your own without a guided tour. Market accessible by land by the way…not expressly floating and isolated.

The canal tour was very interesting. Took us to places we would have not seen like the floating markets. We even saw a giant wild monitor. The boats are very loud though and the shops are quite touristy. Otherwise great trip.

The tour was just average. The canal locks were unfortunately unavoidable as they are a part of the canal system. The stopover at the artist house was just okay and kind of boring. Seeing people feed the catfish, sights of monitor lizards and the big Buddha this tour is just average unless you want to really see the waterways of Bangkok!

An enjoyable morning and was a great way to explore Bangkok. My children enjoyed the stop at the Artist Village, particularly feeding the fish and making bracelets. I felt like our tour guide was very good for the first half, however was a bit quiet and didn't really provide much information after the Artist Village stop. I'm still glad we did it, it just wasn't as easy to understand or as informative as other tours we have done.

Nice way to see many sites along the canal. It was interesting to review the contrast of temples and Buddhist statues along with the personal residences on the canal. We also stopped at one location to walk around and see some of the sites there.
