In 3 hours, maybe more, I will describe in detail not just the cultural and historic context, and all the people involved in creating Regaleira, but also about Portuguese mysticism and beliefs, Greek mythology, esoteric practices, ancient religious orders, misconceptions about the free masons, the Romantic movement and Botany. Few guides talk about plants, but Regaleira is not just the Palace and the Initiation Well, it is a Romantic Park. A Must Do Tour!

This experience was made so much easier by taking this tour. It allowed our guide to lead the way and focus on the logistics of navigating these 2 amazing sights while we could conserve our energy for taking in the views, learning the history, and yes, climbing all the steps. Pedro was just full of enthusiasm, personality, and knowledge! He really made our day and was super considerate of my friend who was having some knee issues and needed some accommodations. A Great tour guide elevates the experience

It does involve uphill and downhill walking to and from the Pena Palace, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Bernardo was a very knowledgeable, accommodating and pleasant tour guide. He was extremely well informed about every aspect of the Palace, but he was also succinct and could clearly elucidate his thoughts.

Our tour with Nuno was...

Our tour with Nuno was great!! He is knowledgeable, very friendly & personable! When we mentioned that we were driving to Porto, he even gave us some restaurant tips along the way, as well as some recommendations in Lisbon! The Pena Palace was beautiful & we got there before the crowds. Nuno recommended skipping the inside of the palace since only 4-5 rooms inside are open to the public and the wait time to get inside is very long. He dropped us off in the town of Sintra, recommended a pastry shop & told us to take some time shopping. We didn’t feel rushed at all!

Vasco pulled out all the stops on this private tour. He owns the tour company Cazzulu Travel at Cazzulu.com which specializes in these tours as well as all types of travel experiences and trip planning in Portugal and Spain especially finding ways to highlight places not seen by tourists. He is amazingly knowledgeable and his passion shows through as he taught us about the history and culture. He lives in Sintra with his family so during our all day tour he not only seemed to know everyone, but he is a local and he knew the back ways and shortcuts. He took us to a most delicious restaurant for lunch with locals. He was very accommodating.. We certainly hope to work with him again.

Going down the well

Sintra is a must see

We had a fabulous day visiting Sintra. Jorge picked us up at our hotel in Lisbon and we drove us to Sonya. On the way he pointed out sights and the history around them. The weather was very misty, so we didn’t have great views but that didn’t dampen our experience. Jorge was very helpful with navigating the tour experience at Pena castle and we loved our time viewing the exterior and the amazing grounds. Next to the village of Sintra for lunch and shopping. All in all a very wonderful experience!!

The best tour ever!

This was the best tour we had while visiting Portugal. When we signed up expectation was that we had a driver for the day but we had so much more than that. Diogo,(I am not sure if that is how you spell his name, but he was the absolute best. He was a very informative tour guide. He took us to all of the places to see, he was extremely flexible and really catered to our group. He went above and beyond in every way! This reviews is not really giving him the credit that he deserves because he really was the absolute best. If I am ever back in Portugal I would ask for him for every tour! So if you go and you want, not just a driver but the best tour guide, ask for him. It was worth every penny!

Excellent Half Day Tour of Sintra

Excellent tour with Diogo as our guide. He is funny and fun and has a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area. We saw a bit of everything, driving through the forest, beaches and small towns and finishing the tour at the Pena Palace. Would recommend this tour.

Exceptional from start to finish

Our driver, Tiago, was absolutely amazing. He was friendly, professional, and an excellent driver who made us feel completely safe and comfortable throughout the day. We were a bit unsure of what we wanted to do at first, but Tiago was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, helping us design the perfect itinerary on the fly. And gave us tips and tricks and recommendations in each village we stopped in. Highly recommend and having done it it’s the only way to see Sintra.
