See the city thru food. So good.

This was an excellent well-planned and executed tour of foods and restaurants to sample in Ponta Delgado. From breakfast to lunch with stops at the farmers markets and others. My wife and I enjoyed every stop. It’s a small group with excellent tour guides to discuss the city, history, culture and especially its foods. Five stars all the way if you want to sample the pleasures of the city’s foods.

Great dolphin & whale watching tour!

Absolutely an amazing tour! We whale in Cabo, Hawaii, and Alaska and this was a great location for it too. The highlight was following a pod of orcas for about 45 minutes. Even the crew couldn't believe our luck. The bottle nose dolphins were great to see too, but the orcas stole the show. The captain did his best to avoid heavy swells. I stood on the second deck at the railing facing forward and had a great unobstructed view, left, right and forward. The crew was very helpful and informative. Even identifying a whale that we had seen the day before on our cruise ship. We would do this tour every time we go to the Azores.

Furnas day trip is a must see!

Wonderful! The drive from Ponta Delgado takes you North and then to Furnas and loops South after so you really get to see the dramatic scenery. Furnas is a must see! Lots of stops. Bring towel, flip flops, swimsuit to enjoy the thermal bath in Furnas. Guide Miguel was great and so were the other group travelers!

Beautiful and exhilarating experience!

Had a great time! You start on regular roads out of the town and then eventually end up on some dirt roads that have some more challenging terrain for the inexperienced ATV rider, but everyone seemed to handle it fine. I loved going around the rim of Sete Cidades and seeing both the crater and the ocean at the same time! Note your thumb can get a little tired when going up hill for so long. They let you switch drivers halfway through if you want at a bathroom stop in Sete Cidades.

Great all day tour and back on the ship in plenty of time

The weather was so unpredictable and constantly changing throughout the day. It worked out very well for us at most of the stops, but clearly could’ve been challenging if our timing was just slightly different. Our guide, Catia, was constantly monitoring the weather and was flexible in our routing to take advantage of the best locations. She has lived her entire life here on sao, Miguel, and was extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture on the island. We were in a comfortable van that seated eight and all seats were taken. We had about seven stops over the seven hours and the timing at each stop was very appropriate for where we were. Lunch was included on the tour, and we stopped at a local restaurant and had an incredible buffet lunch. The octopus, in particular, was amazing. Catia was very conscious of our time back on the ship and even got us back 30 minutes earlier than she had promised which we were all grateful. We would definitely tour again with pure Azores, and especially with Catia.

Great adventure. You’ll need to walk to the town taxi stand to get a ride to the meeting location. The cost was 15 euros (one-way). Bruno, the tour operator, helped us call a cab for the trip back to the cruise port. Be sure to wear layers and the temps really change along the way. Enjoy!

We had read other reviews, and knew the tour would be a very good one. It exceeded all expectations. Our tour guide, Mario, was friendly, funny, and very well informed. The time passed quickly. Highly recommend the tour. If you get Mario, so much better.

Our tuk tuk guide Tomas was a delight to spend a couple of hours with. Professional, knowledgeable, good stories, good driver, personable, respectful and fun. The drive in and around Ponta Delgado gave a good insight to the area and actually made me want to experience more of the island. The stop at the Pineapple Farm was a plus. Go for it !!

5 stars - Book Pedro. Don’t overthink it.

Private Jeep tour of western São Miguel with four other passengers. Pedro was our guide, driver, historian, and honestly the best part of the day. He grew up in Ponta Delgada, knows the island the way only a local can, and spent the morning making sure we saw it the way it deserves to be seen. Stunning crater views at Sete Cidades, perfectly timed despite rapidly shifting weather. He adjusted the route in real time to maximize what we experienced, which made a real difference. Plenty of time for photos at every stop. Personalized, unhurried, deeply knowledgeable. Worth every dollar over any group bus tour. If you’re on a cruise stop with limited time, this is exactly how to spend it.

Amazing opportunity!!

I would say the two day tour is definitely worth your money and time. The guides are well experienced and have a depth of knowledge about the island and history. The lunch on both days was phenomenal and allowed for more time to connect with the group members. One thing I would advise for future tour-goers is to bring a rain jacket, we did and it was needed on some points during the tour. The weather in the Azores can be unpredictable, with that in mind some of the beautiful scenic stops you might not be able to see due to the fog. That being said, the wind can often move the fog away very quickly and allow for a nice view. Another thing would be if you would like to go into the Hot Springs in Terranostra you should bring swimsuits and a towel as well as be aware that it is an extra 17€. Part of the group that did the hot springs throughly enjoyed it and mentioned that they would like to go back with more time. If this isn’t something you might like, you can opt out and walk around the surrounding town and its parks which is what we did, and it was delightful.

AMAZING experience and FANTASTIC guides

This was the most amazing experience we had while in Sao Miguel, which is saying a lot since this is one of the best places we have traveled to. The guides, Tomas and Warren, were AMAZING- they were so kind, patient, encouraging and knowledgeable. We did this tour with our 13 and 9 year old children, and we all had a blast on this incredible adventure while seeing some of the most beautiful views. They took pictures for us and helped our kids throughout the experience so my husband and I could focus on the experience. I can not give enough praise to the guides and the experience itself, this is an absolute must do, and when we return to the island we will book this again! I would recommend wearing a bathing suit and/or sweat wicking material to wear under the wet suit (no cotton). They provide all the gear, head to toe. You may also want to bring towels and a change of clothes for after. There are facilities at the meeting point for changing and a lovely little cafe.

A real highlight of our visit.

Absolutely great experience. Our guides were intent on making sure we saw wildlife! We saw two types of dolphins, a tuna run, and two types whales. Masterful handling of the boat and great knowledge of the environment. (Remember to stand when you hit those waves:). ) Raingear and life jackets provided. All perfect.
