We had an excellent guide with Ricardo. The trip was about 5 hours, leaving from near the Colosseum, out the Appian way, to the catacombs of San Callisto, and further down the Appian way through a series of beautiful parks. It was a great experience, with historical instruction by Ricardo, a guided tour of the catacombs, and a great bike ride through multiple beautiful parks. We stopped for drinks and snacks on the way back as well. It was a great experience, and a nice alternative to the very crowded sites in the center of Rome. The electric bikes also make the ride pretty easy, so only a moderate level of fitness is needed.

We absolutely loved this tour. Not only do you get to ride on the bikes and get to see parts of Rome you normally wouldn’t see (such as the many ruins among the appian way) but you also get included entry to the Calisto catacombs which were so amazing to see. Our tour guide Ricardo was so knowledgeable, kind and down to earth, we really enjoyed our time with him. If there is one tour that you should book in Rome it is definitely this one !!

Excellent way to see Rome and enjoy the variety it has.
The Appian Way, bath house, catacomb area, and Aurelian wall were all amazing and our guide was excellent!
((If you haven’t ridden 30 km recently on varied terrain, I’d suggest a walking tour or a shorter e-bike trip. I’m going to need some physical recovery time after riding over those stones and so far, BUT by it’s still a highlight of my visit to Rome.))

Starbike Tours did an amazing job! The bikes worked great and the seat padding covers we requested helped a lot. The staff were very friendly and thorough.
Gio, our guide, was excellent! She is very knowledgeable about the history of Rome, the aqueducts and Appian way. Her enthusiasm for the subjects made the tour very interesting. She will be a great history professor in the near future. She also handled the two attendees who had difficulties with kindness and concern.
The park is beautiful to ride through and we enjoyed our tour immensely!
I do want to mention that the sections of the Appian Way with the large smooth rocks were difficult for me to ride over so I walked my bike through these few sections and still enjoyed my journey.
A great tour!

Very cool way to see Rome, big stuff and lesser known things. Catacombs is definitely worth it. Guide Lorenzo was epic super cool.

I was going to just hire an ebike but after seeing Rome traffic changed plans. The trip was exceptionsl. Our lead/guide Gio knew every detail of roman history. We negotiated Rome traffic...the Rome marathon...saw the majesty of arches and aqueducts...catacombs...a simple lunch in a beautifil cafe...and breezy ride thru parks and Via Appia...and back to base. Wow best of the best

This activity was loved by everyone in our family! Note that you do need to ride your bike on the side of the road for a little bit to get out of the city (and the Romans can be very impatient and honk at you!) However, once you're out of the city, the tour was incredible! We did the catacomb option and loved it! The tour guides were very kind and patient. Well worth it!

Our favorite tour in Rome. Great way to get out of the city and learn more about the history of Rome and the empire. Our guide Jeff was amazing! Super knowledgeable, great pace, and kept everyone engaged and safe. Highly recommend!

This tour was fantastic! Gio was our guide and she was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. Our tour was 5 hours with a nice Italian luch stop. The bikes were in good working order. This tour should be on your list of things you need to do!

This was a great way to see areas of Rome without standing in long lines and getting to connect with others from around the world. Jeff was a FANTASTIC tour guide. We would highly recommended to anyone. Plus the E-bikes make the ride so fun! Thanks Jeff!!!

It's a proper bike ride and not for beginners. The cobblestones are tricky to negotiate. It was great to see a beautiful part of Rome. Life outside the city walls. Loved the stories Alex told.

Trevor was great! Very knowledgeable about Roman history and mythology, and patient with my limited biking skills. It was a bit more intense than I expected, but it was a very good time. Would definitely recommend.

This was our favorite tour in Rome. It took us just outside the city to the beautiful countryside full of history and villas. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. The bikes were comfortable
Jeff_B, Apr 2026
This was a lot of fun! Biking through Rome (there is a bit of city biking, not scary for my family but might be for some) is awesome and then you get to the Appian Way and Aquaduct Park and everything gets more magical! The stops at the Catacombs, monuments, and snack break were wonderful additions…and electric bikes are lots of fun!
William_B, Apr 2026
Lorenzo was great. Fun and informative ride. The aqueduct and Appian way were great. The electric bikes were perfect.
Shannon_B, Apr 2026
We loved our ride. This was a very memorable ride. We got to not only bike through historic Rome but we learned a ton of history and had a lot of fun. Gio and Nassir were fantastic guides. What a great way to experience Rome and exercise at the same time. Highly recommend!
Pauline_W, Apr 2026
Friendly, fun, informative, relaxing (even for a couple of 60yr olds with average fitness). This trip was just what we needed after a few hectic days in Rome.
Amy_S, Apr 2026
Roma Starbike guides were amazing! Great experience. Highly recommend. I learned so much during this tour.
Megan_M, Apr 2026
One of the best things to do in Rome on a gorgeous day! My guide, Gio, was incredible! She was so knowledgeable and passionate about Roman history and really brought the history to life. The bikes are great! Highly recommend bringing a water bottle and light snack if doing the 4-hour tour. Would 100% do this again!
Angelica_L, Apr 2026
Wow. This tour was amazing and we saw lots of very interesting things! The tour guides (Gio and Luca, hi!) were very informative and knew so much about the city, I loved hearing them talk about the history and culture. However, I currently cannot feel my posterior due to the immensely bumpy terrain that lasted a short while. Beware of the big stones!
Side note: Beware of little British boys though. They came for me and my small child as we rode a bike with trailer, and we did unfortunately, take a tumble. Their mother was a nuisance. Terrible parenting.

Very beautiful bike ride along the ancient Appian road. I learned so much from our tour guide, Jio—she was so very knowledgeable and answered all our questions patiently.
Robin_P, Mar 2026
It is some bumpy country roads. It helps if you can partially stand up on the pedals during the rougher ancient roads. I would bring a small bottle of water with you. The bikes have a small enclosed basket to hold a bottle, jacket, and camera.
Vanessa_T, Mar 2026
It was a fun activity to discover other parts of the city and in particular this ancient road. How much history! Fun to do this in small groups and with some interesting information learned along the way. My only small complaint is that our guide didn’t offer to take pictures as we were about to leave the trail / road so we missed out on this opportunity . Otherwise a gorgeous day that I’d highly recommend
Richard_J, Mar 2026
The folks at Roma Starblke are very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. The route is quite diverse in scenery and the countryside is beautiful. They do a great job taking care of you and talking about the great sights you visit. The bikes do all the work for you so you can really enjoy the ride. Fantastic way to get a whole other experience of the city.
