Be prepared for all weather, you could experience all forms of precipitation while you ride. A warm jumpsuit was provided along with gloves and a riding helmet, but bringing a face cover would be a good idea. It was a great ride and the horses are very kind and gentle. It was a nice ride along the base of the mountains next to a stream. I would definitely recommend.

Loved this tour! We had a mix of ages (9-43). Our group was small - only our family, and we had two guides. Loved getting to talk to them, learn more about Icelandic horses, in particular, and got to try out tolting! The same family has owned this stable and land for many decades, and it’s wonderful getting to hear their stories! Definitely recommend.
Their pickup at the hotel was timely and comfortable, also, which made the trip an easy one!

The grandfather and dad are amazing. The kids who do the tours are horrible and rude. We rode and on the return the horses spooked because dogs were off the leash. The kids who do the tour are not friendly and seem like they loath the clients.

Beautiful and peaceful! Truly enjoyed our time! Just an FYI the van that picks you up has their name on it so no need to ask every white van driver if it’s them lol!

Absolutely wonderful . The owners. The guides
The horses. The trail was magical. Nothing at all to dislike

Went on this tour on a very cold day in January of 26'. This was a very enjoyable tour, however I won't say the most scenic horseback riding tour we've ever been on. However, I admit I may have underdressed/layered for this tour so I was more focused on the cold. Near the end of the tour I didn't notice my right boot had froze to the stirrup. I ate it good getting off the horse which in hindsight was hilarious and has made for many a funny dinner party story. Dress warm and gitty-up!

dont be afraid to try this even if you have never ridden before. The horses are in charge and will make sure you get back so they can have some food!

I booked this experience with my dad, it was the best part of our trip and we had an amazing time. The horses were lovely and so were the staff. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this experience. The staff was really kind and helpful. They provided us with all the gear needed for the horse ride. They assigned us a horse depending on our riding experience. It was only my second time but I felt safe and the tour guide was checking on us during the ride to make sure everyone was ok. The landscape was also amazing. At the end they gave us a hot drink to warm up and a nice cake. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Such a beautiful experience. It’s a family owned business, the horses are gorgeous and a unique experience to do, riding Icelandic horses in Iceland.

Nice little excursion that included a 1.5h ride down a trail next to the ranch. We went in March so the wind was icy.

My partner and I had a wonderful time riding these beautiful horses through the countryside. The horses were so gentle and the scenery was stunning!
The experience included convenient pick up and drop off, and we were greeted upon arrival by the owner who helped us with getting ready by fitting us with our hard hats and super warm overalls.
The staff were professional and friendly and it was a wonderful experience!

This was such a beautiful experience that none of us experienced before - riding horses in a snow storm, over rivers and fields. The guides were very experienced - from selecting horses for the riders based on their comfort/experience level, to helping less experienced ones along the way. From the warm greeting as soon as we entered the farm, to getting to know the beautiful horses, this was a wonderful experience!

Amazing bucket list activity. This was without question our favorite thing we did on our vacation. Pick up and drop off service were flawless. Laxnes Horse Farm staff were so friendly and welcoming, and made sure we were properly outfitted for the cold and picked out perfect horses based on our experience. The ride itself was incredible; a true core memory! The guides on our horse ride were incredible and kept everyone safe and engaged.
If you only do one thing in Iceland, this should be it!

Great guides, amazing views, friendly horses! You won't be disappointed. The place has a long history, lots to see and hear about.

The horse farm is a short ride from the city. We had an amazing time. The scenery on the way to the farm was beautiful, the farm owners and all staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the horses were beautiful and so fun to be around. We rode the horses across the countryside, and it was such a smooth ride. Even my 8yr old who has never ridden a horse before was able to manage the ride. Once we were done we were treated to some hot cocoa and coffee inside to help warm back up. I would highly recommend this activity if you are hoping to get up close and personal with Icelandic horses. You will not be disappointed.

This was a blast! We got the ride the horses fir a good chunk of time. We loved the transportation to and from the activity, it helped make it easy. Everyone at the farm was super helpful and friendly.

Everyone at the farm was super friendly, both staff and horses included! The staff was very helpful and took us out on a nice and long ride on some super cute Icelandic horses. The horses are truly unique and I recommend trying out this tour!

This place was amazing - a family run business with a sweet gentleman outfitting our group, a funny tour guide setting us up with horses to match our levels, and tour guides who helped everyone on and off if needed. Beautiful vistas and amazingly sweet horses - easy rides for all the beginners in our group.

From start to finish this activity was run seamlessly. We were picked up by the owner and taken to the absolutely spotless stables, where their beautiful ponies were kept. Helped with all in one suits, hats and gloves…all provided. Then taken on the most beautiful hack, across a river, under snow topped mountains. It was magical. Then back to the stables for coffee and cake in the very warm tea room. The family genuinely love their ponies and work together to create such a unique experience.

They supplied a jumpsuit and helmet. Very glad to have had the jumpsuit over my clothes so I was warm enough. Ride was great, staff was friendly and helpful. Horses were so chill beautiful, as was the scenery. Thank you!
Nicki_L, Jan 2026
Was given a perfect horse to suit my ability (adult amateur rider) and my partners ability (absolute beginner). Beautiful countryside with river crossings and fantastic views.
Corrine_B, Jan 2026
The owner picked me up in Reykjavik and shared a little about his family owned farm that started in 1968. The horses were amazing and a sunrise ride was beautiful.

This family run farm is magical—everyone is friendly and helpful and the horses are so gentle and fun to ride. All equipment was included, boots, coverall, helmet and very nice tack for English riding. The tolt gait is an amazing experience and the lava fields and streams allow you to I imagine what it may have been like to be a Viking or Early settler—the setting is peaceful. Great for all riding levels with opportunities for trotting and tolt through the ride. The owners and staff are caring and attentive. Highest recommendation—this is a don’t miss!

Place is amazing!! The horses are beautiful and so docile. The staff made everyone feel so comfortable. Highly recommend!

This place has been here for a long time, apparently it’s well known. A group of us went 12/26, they picked us up & took us to the stables, they outfitted us in warm dry overalls & helmet, picked out a horse for each of us and we went on a very pleasant trail ride with a few river crossings. You could tell the horses were eager to get back to their pastures and when we got back they had coffee/tea/hot chocolate and pastry for us. Looks like it’s family run, which is always nice. We all have a great afternoon. Would be nice if we’d gotten the opportunity to run the horses a little bit as well…

It was absolutely wonderful!!! I can’t wait to come back!!! The horses are beautiful and so much fun to ride!!

We really loved our ride with Laxnes Horse Farm. I rode Joker and he was a dream and my 8-year-old rode a little white horse that was incredibly gentle. We just really enjoyed the experience as a whole.
George_N, Dec 2025
What a magical experience! I was a total beginner but the instructor was super helpful and I got given a really experienced horse. Going through the landscape was so dreamy, crisp and breathtaking. My only tip is to wrap up warm for the winter! Loved my trip and can’t wait to do it again! Worth every penny!
