About 100 kilometers from Bucharest and 44 kilometers from Ploiesti, the Slanic salt mine is a recognized destination for balneal and touristic activities since 1853, when it was declared a tourist destination of national interest in Romania. Among the superlatives of the salt mine (especially the Union Mine), the most important tourist and health objective in the resort, there is a huge volume of excavated salt, about 2.9 million cubic meters, which led to the creation of cavities with gigantic volumes, respectively 14 trapezoidal rooms totaling about 80,000 square meters. The 14 underground rooms have an opening of 10 meters to the ceiling, 32 meters wide at the bottom, and the height is 54 meters. The depth of the salt mine is 208 meters. The impressive dimensions granted it the title of the largest salt mine in Europe.

This was an all day trip but very enjoyable for two couples over 60. Our tour guide, Bogden, was very knowledgeable about the history and the sites we were seeing he made great recommendations for lunch stops and appropriate rest stops along the way. We especially enjoyed. Peles Cassel and the city of. Bravos. Although we did not go to the castle in Transylvania with thoroughly enjoyed the gardens. Bogden was an exceptional guide and made our experience exceptional. This is a trip we would highly recommend and do again.

This is absolutely worth your time and money. If you could request for Mario, he was the best guide that we’ve had in a while. He takes care of you and the group like his own family, he’s very knowledgeable and does a lot of research to be able to present thoroughly, he cares about avoiding traffic and getting you to your destination on time, and he speaks multiple languages. He speaks English very well having lived in the UK before. If you care about quality, this is the tour for you!

Worth Every Mile and Every Penny!

If you’re still wondering whether you should book this tour, just do it! I promise it will be worth every mile you travel and every penny you spend. Our driver and tour guide, Sebastian, was absolutely fantastic! Huge kudos to him for making this such a memorable experience. His attention to detail really stood out, from rotating the seats so everyone on the bus had a chance to sit in the front, to providing interesting and detailed explanations about every place we visited. Sebastian was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. A great guide can make or break a tour, and Sebastian definitely made this one worth it. Highly recommended!

A very good overview of the park with a very informative tour guide on a comfortable minibus. You get to see the geysers, including old faithful eruption, mountains, lakes, forests, open areas. Long but highly enjoyable day. Make sure you do the Peles Castle tour, beautiful inside and out. Brasov was a lovely place to eat and wander around. Bran Castle,aka Draculas Castle, was great. Make sure to go to the garden to get great photos of it perched on the hill spooky👻🧛‍♂️! Vlad was a fantastic guide, funny, informative and very helpful. Went out of his way to arrange transport back to our Hotel, many thanks. Florien did a wonderful job driving. Highly recommend!!

A wonderful experience

Our guide, Silvia, was amazing. Full of knowledge, full of passion for her country and well prepared. I would highly recommend this tour. I'm also glad that we did it towards the beginning of our holiday as it gave me a new perspective on the city and its architecture/people for the remainder of our trip. An Amazing Day Exploring the Best of Transylvania

We had an absolutely fantastic day visiting the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) and Brașov. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Romania and a great combination of nature, history and sightseeing. The Bear Sanctuary was a wonderful and moving experience. It was lovely to see the rescued bears living in a large, natural environment and to learn about their individual stories and the important work being done to protect them. Bran Castle was fascinating and definitely worth visiting. We really enjoyed exploring the castle, learning about its history and, of course, hearing about its famous connection to Dracula and Vlad the Impaler. The surrounding scenery was beautiful too. We finished with time in Brașov, which is a gorgeous city with a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed walking around the historic centre, admiring the colourful buildings and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Overall, it was a brilliant and memorable day trip and Alex our Guide was excellent. Each stop offered something completely different, and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Romania.

Great tour - exactly as billed

Steffan was a great guide. He delivered commentary in English and Spanish and had the plan down to a science. We bought castle tickets for the timeslots mentioned in the details and everything worked perfectly. I felt sorry for those that did not buy tickets in advance because Peles was sold out.
