Best of South Island NZ

What a fantastic experience! I thought a 12 hour round trip tour might be a bit much but the hours flew by! Hobbiton

Hobbiton is probably my favorite place in the whole world. The Glow worm cave was magical as well. Our guide, Mike, was informative, helpful and friendly. He kept us laughing while he expertly drove us in a comfortable van over lovely green rolling hills. Don’t miss this tour if you visit northern New Zealand.

Amazing

Amazing experience. It’s unreal to be on the glacier, it looked so beautiful. We didn’t do a lot of walking, we stopped a lot and then made our way back after maybe a few hundred meters i guess. So for anyone who wants to really walk long and hike book the longer tours, that’s what I will do next time. But that’s just preference, the tour itself was perfect.

Unique & fascinating experience not to be missed.

It was very well organised & our guide was very informative. Not an overly large group which was great. Its an experience like no other…absolutely fascinating “other worldly” experience & well worth doing. Silence & good balance/eye sight required but it was in no way difficult. There were older people in our group & all coped well. The boatride through a section of the cave at the end was breathtaking.

Great Experience

The glass ceiling on the bus is such a nice touch to this experience so you can see the mountains along the drive. I sometimes get car sick on long drives but Debbie was a great driver. We had a few stops along the way to Milford Sound that were super cool! And the cruise was a blast! It rained on and off so just be prepared :) I’d recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing Milford Sound.

Just book it!

You could not ask for a more amazing experience than flying to Milford Sound with True South. This is the most time efficient method to get to see Milford if you are on a short timeframe like we were. It was such a treat to see the gorgeous landscapes on the way in and way out as well as on the cruise. My favorite experience for our entire trip!!!!

Excellent - particularly capital and crew

Pure Milford - great way to see the sound. The capital and crew were BY FAR the friendliest, most accommodating, and knowledgeable people I've encountered on a short cruise like this. Heck, they will even take your picture without any bother. Boat was clean, free coffee drinks (cappuccino, mocha, etc).

Must-do when in...

Must-do when in Queenstown. Did this first when I visited in February with my sisters, and enjoyed it so much, I had to take my now husband on the way to our wedding. Both of us were really nervous before the first time we both went, but the drivers are absolutely amazing (I think they said they train for 18mths before they take passengers). Ngāi Tahu tourism are an extremely professional operation, and their safety record is impeccable. They are the best for a Queenstown jet boat experience - don't skimp and go for a cheaper operator - Shotover Jet have the exclusive rights to the section of river that's best for this. So much fun - you really won't regret it (and like us, will probably want to go again as soon as you get off!)

Spectacular full day event

It was a very long (full day) but worthwhile trip. The drive is spectacular and particularly so as you get closer and closer to Milford Sound. The windowed roof of the bus accentuated this. Highly recommend. If you plan to stay in Te Anau, starting the trip from there is an option and would be much shorter.

If inside seating is a priority for you, arrive at least an hour early. It’s first come first serve. Otherwise you can sit outside, the seating is warm as it’s outside of the engine room and they give you blankets as well. They also do tray service outside so you can relax and have a drink.

What an experience!!!

Had an excellent trip. The skipper, Hamish was very knowledgable about the sites seen during the cruise, and provided a litttle entertainment as well. The staff members were great also, very accomodating. I had both of my kids with me, and not long after the cruise had started did the male staff member bring over colouring pencils and pictures to colour in. It was a big help keeping them entertained. The lovely Faye was very delightful, a pleasure to talk to, and very welcoming and warm (much needed given how cold the day was lol). We were able to get very close to a couple of the falls, to the point that I ended up drenched, which was super fun. And even got to see a few of the seals hanging out. Overall, a great experience. 5 stars!
