What are people saying about Taormina

We were blown away with...
We were blown away with this experience! We were picked up from our Taormina hotel by Martino, who was incredible! Very kind, personable, and knowledgeable. He taught us so much and took the time to get to know us! We made the drive to Etna, and as we ascended, he pulled over multiple times to show us monuments and take photos of us with the amazing scenery (great photographer, by the way)! We spent a little time at Silvestri Craters, then headed down to the town of Zafferana Etnea to go to a local honey farm. The honey was phenomenal and we took home quite a few jars. Made for some awesome gifts! We also got to try a couple of wines, spreads, and olive oils there too. On the way to our winery excursion, Martino stopped at an ancient chestnut tree. It was actually very cool! We talked to a local worker at the park there, who let us get close to the tree. After that, we continued over to Gambino Vini. We had a delicious meal with multiple courses and 5 wines, while looking out at the most stunning view of the vineyards with the Ionian Sea in the distance. The wine was some of the best we’ve had — it’s so interesting how the agriculture by the volcano can affect the taste of the wines. We couldn’t decide on what wine to ship home, but Gambino easily ships on their website at any time. On the way back to Taormina, Martino drove us through his hometown. We talked a lot about cannoli on our ride haha, and he ended up gifting us some incredible cannoli from a local bar / bakery. It was so sweet! To top it all off, before he dropped us at our hotel, he drove us up to Chiesa Madonna della Rocca, which is an unforgettable viewpoint high up in the hilltops of Taormina that we hadn’t made it to on our trip yet. We can’t recommend this tour enough to anyone who wants an intimate day trip filled with knowledge, history, panoramic views, unique tastes of Sicily, and a professional yet personable guide!

Fabulous Tour of Mt. Etna and Taormina Village
This was one of the best and most interesting tours we’ve taken in over 50 years of traveling. For one thing our guide Simone was outstanding. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has a very good way of making everyone comfortable. The fact that it was a small group tour also made it super nice. Simone gave us a choice of the various ways we could explore Mt. Etna. We all chose to stay with him and hiked up part of Mt. Etna and we’re not disappointed.

Taormina Cooking Class
Massimo is the greatest host and chef. Second time doing his shopping and cooking adventure in Taormina as I knew it would be a wonderful experience and wanted to share it with my friends! Beautiful location for an outdoor lunch prepared by our group. Massimo coordinated the prep and cooking so all could learn techniques and he provide good insight into how and why the process led to optimal outcome.

Not Only High, but Extremely Wide, Windy and Well Worth It
Dan was an excellent guide. He is a local who was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, funny, very informative, caring and had a great grasp of English. We couldn't have been more pleased with how our "1/2 day" excursion went. The weather forecast turned wet but Dan ensured we were properly dressed, including having boots and ponchos on. Although cool as expected, the sun came out, the views from near the summit were breathtaking and we discovered that Mount Etna covers a massive area of Sicily. Be prepared for a very windy ascent to near the summit. Well worth the time and cost. Thanks again, Dan!

With panoramic views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea, it’s not surprising that Taormina has been a popular vacation spot for centuries. This seaside village with cobblestone streets is the perfect starting point for visiting volcanic craters, exploring ancient Greek ruins, and sailing to the nearby islands of Panarea and Stromboli. Taormina tours highlight everything from history (Sicily is the birthplace of the Mafia) to cannoli—which you can learn how to make with the help of a local chef.
