Breathtaking
Bring your own high tech sleeping bag-avoid the unwashed version they rent. No showers the first two nights, lack of toilet paper. No heating in any of the high altitude camps. Bring lots of extra money, more than 20% of purchase price in tips paid. Landscape is breath taking -the first 2 days quiet literally.

My daughter and I had a great Salkantay Trek with Alplaca Expeditions! Our guides, Alvin and David, were wonderful. The chefs, porters, and horsemen also worked hard to take care of us.

If Roger Alcca is available, ask for him!
Roger was an exceptional guide. It felt like he could run circles around everyone while somehow making sure every single person stayed safe, informed, and on the same page throughout the hike. His organization and attention to detail were truly impressive. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how he shared the local culture with us. He prepared the same teas the locals drink and gave us a genuine Andes mountain experience rather than just leading us along the trail. The food was outstanding, and he went above and beyond to accommodate each person’s individual needs during the hike. What impressed me most was that, even while helping other groups stay organized and assisting anyone who needed it, Roger never lost focus on our group. He made everyone feel like a priority. His professionalism, knowledge, and care made this one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.
