What are people saying about Puerto Plata

Awesome, BUT not for the faint of heart….literally!!!!
This turned out to be a great adventure. However, it started out with quite the unexpected hike. Yes, there’s “walking”, but what we didn’t know (or realized) was that the walking included seeming endless inclines of unsteady stairs, gravel walkways, and very rocky terrain. We’re not in pique physical condition and managed fine in the heat, but I was definitely concerned for a few in our group and some elders. BUT, once we got our steps in, we found ourselves at the highlight of one of the most amazing (and refreshing after all that exercise) excursions we’ve been on. You’ll have 2 jumps of varying heights and 2 slides, or 4 slides if you choose not to jump so you won’t be stuck. All in all, this turned into a fantastic adventure, that was also followed by a great homemade meal, and a trip to a small village for coffee and chocolate tasting and shopping. Absolutely would do it again, and definitely recommend to anyone without preexisting conditions or physical handicaps of any kind.

Memorable experince
I want to say it was awesome and truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That said, be prepared, it's not just a waterfall tour. It's a fairly strenuous hike uphill through the jungle before you get to enjoy the waterfalls. The guides are great and give you water and frequent breaks to catch your breath. Our day was also very crowded, which took away from the experience a bit. Plan on spending about 4 hours total from start to finish. Overall, if you're up for some adventure and don't mind the hike, it's definitely worth doing at least once.

Fantastic
The whole experience was wonderful, the guides were all very helpful & friendly & the views were fantastic. We had a group of 6 and we had a blast. The zip lines were fun & the 6th zip had the best views. The trip down the creek bed on ATVs was a blast & the stop we made in town on the to try the local coffee, cocoa beans, mamawana & local fresh fruit was a great experience! Finally the horses were well behaved, though that ride didn't come with to much views and was rather short. It was fun to watch my kids light up with joy over the horses. The lunch provided was also delicious. I highly recommend doing this trip if you visit Dominican we arrived by cruise ship at Amber cove & they got us back with a little time to spare.

Paradise Island and Bomb Ass Chicken
This one was super relaxing, depending on where you are staying it could be up to a 2hr ride but when you arrive to the beach you are then taken on a boat to a sand bar (Paradise Island) in the middle of the ocean, takes 2 min to walk around the whole "island", they give you tasty fruits and snorkeling gear, really cool fish and some big ones too. You can also just relax on the beach. After you are taken through a mangrove where it's a maze to get to a pretty central point but the way out was the fun part, top speed motorboat whipping through the maze that is the mangrove till you make it put into the open ocean. Then they take you to a Dominican restaurant where I had the best fried chicken probably ever. They stop a cigar spot that makes the cigars and they talk you through the process. If you get the guide named Mendy you are in for an educational and fun experience my guy speaks 4 languages fluently.
