The trek follows the original wartime trail and includes all sites of military significance during the Kokoda campaign – battlesites, patrol tracks, major logistic areas Lake Myola and fire support bases. The itinerary includes two nights at Bombers campsite which allows trekkers to spend a day exploring both Myola lakes and inspecting the American P40 Kittyhawk fighter aircraft that crashed on the northern edge of the lakes.
