Learning Alebrijes from the Family Who Lives the Tradition
We had such a wonderful morning with the Jimenez family. If you spend any time in Oaxaca or know the history of alebrijes, you quickly realize you’re learning from the descendants of the original artists who helped shape this incredible art form. What impressed us most is that they don’t gatekeep the tradition, they generously share its history, teach the techniques, and encourage everyone to create something uniquely their own.
Our kids were completely engaged from start to finish, and watching them paint while learning about the cultural significance behind the art made the experience even more meaningful. Cesar was an excellent host and translator, making everyone feel welcome and ensuring nothing was lost in translation. He brought us water, drinks and a light snack. Coordination was very easy.
Just 30 minutes from Oaxaca City, this is a relaxing and memorable way to spend a few hours. We left with beautiful pieces we painted ourselves, a much deeper appreciation for alebrijes, and memories we’ll keep for years. Highly recommended.

Perfect day!
We highly recommend this tour! Our group of 3 friends had a private tour with Irvin and had a perfect day! The tour was well-timed and a good mix of different types of activities. Irvin was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great experience in Oaxaca!

Fantastic Experience for Vegetarians
This is a brilliant way to learn how to cook a traditional Oaxacan meal with a vegetarian twist. Victor made us feel included, and happily shared his knowledge -: from going to the local market to select ingredients, to making and eating a wonderful meal including mole, rice, guacamole, tortillas, empanadas and fruit. Drinks included traditional chocolate, mezcal and Jamaica juice. Highly recommended.

You will meet in center...
You will meet in center of Oaxaca and travel in bus to Monte Albán. Our guide (Miguel) did such a good job of making the ruins come to life by providing more context and even highlighting additional artifacts with use of magazines. We would never have gotten as much from our tour without Miguel's expertise. We really enjoyed his approach! We had about 45min of "free time" after the guided tour finished to look at the ruins in closer detail and visit the indoor museum. Go early because it will be hot! Bring water. There is a small restaurant along with the museum for drinks and snacks. We then traveled back to the city center on the bus.

10/10 tour!
This was an exceptional tour! My friend and I were the only people who booked on so we ended up getting a private tour (we were very impressed that they didn’t cancel!) Francisco was an incredible and very attentive guide! He answered all of our questions, offered to adapt the tour to best suit our preferences and gave us time to explore each of the workshops ourselves. We really appreciated the time he spent in the market with us highlighting different local foods - my friend loved the enchilada he recommended! All of the workshops we visited were amazing, and we were grateful to all of the artisans for sharing their skills and expertise with us. We’re backpacking for a few months with limited bag space/budget so we took the tour to learn more about the local artistic traditions rather than to buy souvenirs from the workshops (as much as we would have loved to!). We were initially a little nervous when we were the only two who showed up that we might seem rude if we didn’t make purchases, but we needn’t have worried as there was absolutely no pressure to buy from any of the workshops. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

Do this tour BEFORE you do you anything else in Oaxaca! 😊
Do not hesitate to book this tour early in your stay in Oaxaca! I was quite overwhelmed when I first walked around Oaxaca on my own. There were so many food options, and quite a few vendors selling the same things. This walking tour definitely gave me the confidence to know what and where to find foods I wanted to try (and didn't even know i wanted to try! I was introduced to things I've never even heard of). The 6 hour time span may seem a little daunting, but it flies by so quick and you won't even notice the time. We were able to try different drinks, snacks, fruits, types of meals, and dessert. Definitely don't eat before hand so you can experience the tour to it's fullest!

Great tours with a great guide!
We had two wonderful full-day tours to places outside the city with Oaxaca Conmigo. Our guide Chuy was extremely knowledgeable on the history and archeology of the ancient sites we visited and also took us to local villages where met the people creating artisan craft work. He took good of us and was fun to be with. Highly recommended!

Don’t Miss this Culinary Odyssey!
I truly found this food tour was excellent! Perhaps the best of this type I ever participated in. Papi was terrific - knowledgeable, interesting accessible and patient. He brought me to many wonderful food stations and I sampled a wide variety of delicious Mexican food. He also shared important information about the history, culture and trends in Oaxaca throughout our time together. I highly recommend him and this tour to all travelers seeking Oaxaca culinary experiences (and much more…)

Transportation as Promised
Our flight arrived early - but by the time we collected our luggage and got through customs - our driver was waiting with a sign with our name on it. We were 4 adults with 5 pieces of luggage. Van was as promised and clean and comfortable. Our driver even stopped at a local gas station store so I could pick up some beers. Driver was a great driver and got us to our location in a timely manner. Would highly recommend

This horse ride takes you...
This horse ride takes you through a beautiful landscape that crosses three rivers and ends at hot springs. Your guides, Willy and his father in law, are excellent and knowledgeable. The horses are very well behaved and the guides are experts in handling the horses. Overall, this is an amazing experience, especially if you love animals and nature.

Lovely, informative tour...
Lovely, informative tour that makes a great day trip from Oaxaca. We left promptly at 8:30 and returned to Oaxaca City a bit after 5 pm. We particularly loved Monte Alban and the pottery demonstration. Lunch was ~300 pesos apiece (buffet + one beer) + Monte Alban/monastery entrances (175 pesos apiece) + tip.

Extremely well worth it for a full day of events
Overall: extremely well worth the price for a full day tour. Highly recommend.
The tour is completely in Spanish, but even if you have a basic knowledge of the language, I still think it’s worth it! We went to Monte Alban for 2 hours which included an introduction and guided tour for about 40 minutes before having the remaining 1.25 hours to explore the ruins by our self’s. After monte alban, we went to a mezcal tasting session. You need to pay $20mxn for the tasting, but it was well worth it because they give you 9 different mezcals to try. You also get to see the distillery process which is beautiful and interesting to learn about. Next was. an alebrijes workshop where we got to shop and browse after hearing about the process of how they’re made. We then went to an absolutely incredible lunch place with a variety of traditional Oaxaca dishes including plenty of both vegetarian and meat options. The rate for this incredible buffet was $200 mxn which $100mxn alcoholic beverages. After lunch we were driven to a town known for its pottery, and that was absolutely wonderful. We had a brief demonstration of the original techniques that come from the region and were given a lot of time to shop. The prices at this pottery place were shockingly (seriously, shocking) affordable considering the beauty, quality, and time taken to make them. I thought we were done after the pottery place but no! Right before we finished, we were brought to a chocolate store outside of the Mercado 20 de noviembre and received a bunch of free samples. A wonderfully fun way to spend a day.
