No, you don’t need Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) tickets to visit the Big Buddha, or to see the mausoleum beneath it for singer Anita Mui. However, there is an entrance fee to access the three halls at the base of the Big Buddha, which are the Hall of the Universe, Hall of Benevolent Merit, and the Hall of Remembrance.

Amazing trip

A fantastic day, our guide Mel, met us at our hotel and guided us through the mtr to Lantau, he arranged our entry to everything with no delays. Mel was full of interesting information about the temples, Big Buddha and Tai O. We had a superb day and still had time to fit in a visit to the jade market on our return to Kowloon before being dropped back to our hotel. We would never have managed to see as much if it wasn't for Mel's knowledge and expertise, thanks Mel for a wonderful day.

Stephanie was a polite, patience and highly knowledgeable tour guide. She made the experience educational and highly enjoyable in learning Hong Kong’s historical scenery. Stephanie explained everything from the simple MTR subway through the subway stations to the magnificent ride and view from the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. Stephanie expertly maneuvered through Ngnong Ping Village, Divine Generals Alley, Po Lin Buddhist Monastery, Ten Thousand Buddha Grand Hall and Tai O Fishing Village and provided great insight and valued historical data for each of these great Hong Kong landmarks. Good tour

Jupiter was a great guide. She was friendly and knowledgeable, easy to talk to and was always willing to help out even after the tour was done. Our day went well and it was nice getting to know each other. If you get assigned to her, you'll be in good hands. Keep in mind this location has a lot of stairs and incline so wear comfy shoes and expect to sweat. We got lucky with a very clear view of the Giant Buddha but some days may be too foggy to see it even from the top. Also, don't be afraid to try the food stalls at Tai O Village. You'd be missing out on good jerky and dried squid/fish.
