What are people saying about Kyoto

Great night in Kyoto
I was fortunate enough to have my tour be a private tour as no one else signed up. Josh was a fantastic guide and provided so much information on Japanese cuisine, Kyoto, and Japan in general. He lived in the States for a long time so his English was excellent. Highly recommend this tour-you’ll leave full and have a better appreciation for Kyoto!

Gion At Night: It’s Lit!
This ended up being a solo tour, just me and Paris, the tour guide. She was friendly and leaned into a more interactive conversation and approach since it was just me, which I really appreciated. It was great to move through a number of restaurants I might not have tried on my own, try ‘making’ takoyaki, and enjoy traditional beverages as well as dishes!

We had a great experience...
We had a great experience at the tea ceremony. I don’t remember our leader’s full name, but he told us we could call him “You,” and he made the experience feel welcoming, informative, and fun. He had a great sense of humor, which helped everyone feel comfortable, and he also took photos of everyone, which was such a thoughtful touch. He guided us through the ceremony in a way that helped us appreciate the tradition, meaning, and care behind each step. It was a peaceful and memorable part of our time in Japan, and I’m so glad we had the opportunity to experience it.

Fun and great stops
The tour was so much fun. Merisa, the guide was knowledgeable and shared some Japan history with the group on the route to the different stops. I enjoyed all three stops! I just didn't realize no drinks were included in the tour price. Luckily I had enough cash, as cash was needed.

Fantastic. Exceptionally well organized and great sake to taste as well!
Absolutely excellent experience. I learned more about sake than I ever expected. If you ever wanted to demystify sake and know what you’re ordering and how to pair it with different food, this is the activity for you. The guides were excellent - friendly and knowledgeable. And answered all the questions we had.

Kumi is so fun. We ended up being the only people in the tour at the timeslot and day but she made sure we had fun and had good insight on history and Kyoto. The three izakaya/bars were are all great especially the last one. Thanks again to Kumi, you are awesome.

Food tour Nishiki market Kyoto Japan
After a little hiccup with cab driver dropping us at the wrong Family Mart, and our tour guide rescuing us, we got started.
My friend and I were on our first trip to Japan, and booked this tour because it was recommended by another friend. This market is supposed to be fabulous and it is. But even better was our guide Yasuko. Having lived several years in Washington state, she's now in the Kyoto area and is of Japanese heritage. She definitely knows her stuff! We started out walking an area with suggestions for restaurants, learned local history, and then headed toward the market .
What fun! As we were the only two on the tour, we could stop where we wanted and ask questions as needed.
We tasted tofu skin, cuttle fish cakes, plum juice, seaweed soup, and more. The sake was a favorite.
Yasuko also helped my friend find a reliable ATM.
Thanks to Yasuko and Viator! Highly recommended.

Very fun tour & insightful guide
I really liked our tour guide. His name was Nico, I believe. He had a very pleasant disposition and was also a schoolteacher in Kyoto. He created a great experience & helped us appreciate the history, culture, people, & significance of what we were seeing & eating.

Chica was a wonderful guide through a night of eating in Kyoto. She provided great insight about each dish and gave awesome recommendations along the way. She even provided and extensive list of recommendations for other spots in town at the end of the tour. I’d 10/10 recommend.

You won’t go hungry
This was a wonderful evening in Gion with our guide Hugo. Hugo is a very knowledgable and worldly guy. He gave us lots of information and perspectives on history and culture in both Gion and Kyoto specifically, and Japan in general. Then there was the food, lots of it, many varieties, very authentic and very delicious! He explained to us what we were eating and how it related to Japanese culture. There was also plenty of drink to go along with the food. Don’t pass this one up.

Outstanding and a Kyoto must!!
This was a wonderful tour. Most famous market in Kyoto. My guide was exceptional, Miku. She was so kind and enthusiastic. The foods and fish market and wagyu were amazing to see. The strawberries and fruits and all the beautiful foods. It was a celebration in a way of all the foods in Kyoto to watch the traditional food stalls. It was illuminating too with festive decor and trading beauty. Lots of action and felt like heart if Kyoto.
We even had great snack and also stop at a cute little place for Wagyu beef. Best highlight of my trip to Kyoto. Did it my first day. It was outstanding! Do not miss.

I enjoyed the class. It was smooth and organized. It was a big class but they have a great teamwork. Explained everything and attentive to everyone. I learned something new. Delicious and healthy recipe. I can make it for sure at home and share it with family and friends.
